In North East India, we always cook food in bamboo, be it rice or meat. Food cooked in bamboo is very tasty and we also cook food in banana leaves. In many states of India, meat is cooked in bamboo. It was good to see that you too have used bamboo.।।।।।।

Bamboo is really an awesome material. You can use it to build stuff, make cloth from it, use it for fuel, use it for cooking, use it as a container. And it's super renewable, as it grows so fast.

Honestly, you did a great job and exactly the same way people cook with bamboo pipes here...right down to closing the end off with banana leaf. A great nasi bamboo as it would be called here 😋

In Malaysia, there are foods prepared using bamboo and banana leaves. It is called as "Lemang". It is the traditional food of the Malays during the festive season such as "Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Hari Raya Aidil Adha". You can type on the internet "what is Lemang?" , to find out the ingredients used to make Lemang.

And you get very small quantities of a wide range of ingredients whereas buying everything in larger quantities from supermarkets would end up with stuff going past its sell by date or never being used at all. It is convenient. I had to stop my account because you can’t pick a menu based on dietary requirements such as gluten and dairy free. Enjoyed it when it was practical for me. And you do learn how to cook things you might not have thought of before.

Hello Fresh i tried once. We aren't currently using them because we tend to shop locally so often that we always have things at home to cook up, but if i was living alone and didn't feel like bothering, hello fresh isn't a bad option. One word of warning though, i was 100% expecting it to be a very simple throw these things together and pop it in the oven type recipes, i was not expecting the recipes to have so many steps, and for someone who doesn't cook complicated meals and prefers to keep things simple, it was overwhelming for me. It would take me an hour at least from start to finish to cook a meal and i was exhausted trying to follow 8 steps each with 3 substeps to finally completing the meal. However everything i made was really good, amazing. I just would never cook such complicated meals with so many steps on my own, lol. However, if in future if i am on my own and got time, i likely will try them again. I just don't think it will go over well for people with no cooking skill, i have entry level cooking skill, just enough to follow recipe and food to turn out good, but i know people who don't even know how to use their stove, don't know how to measure things correctly and so on, so i don't think it's for everyone. it's kind of intermediate level in my opinion. It's not for people who don't follow instructions which i know a lot out there who refuse to read instructions.

So bamboo is very invasive maybe that is why you can't get it there? cause it would take over. You can not kill even if you try. My neighbor 3 doors down planted one tree in his back yard and it ended up sprouting up into my yard. from his house to mine is probably a good 3 acres and it traveled that far from just one plant.
