So far you have done things that I haven't seen with any of the other KZbinrs that I have watched instead of bringing the chair you cut logs to put on top of the snow to be able to sit and to make the top part of your A-frame you toggled it instead of using sticks that I found was very clever you've got more room now to move around that's awesome kudos from Ontario
@JoshuaGammon
@JoshuaGammon 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Norma. Thanks and glad you like the way I do things. Just trying to keep is simple and easy. It doesn't always have to be hard or take a lot of gear. Just use what's out there. When I take the ATV I'll load up the kit. LOL
@kanukkarhu
@kanukkarhu 3 жыл бұрын
Another awesome video! 👍🏻Since you asked for comments... I know the whole, 'ASMR, atmospheric, silent' thing is big for bushcraft videos right now, but I actually prefer how you do it. Not tons of talking, but you connect well with your audience and share what you're doing. To me, you've got the perfect mix of great shots and sounds, and conversation/explanation. I really like that, and it personally makes me feel more connected to the video. I also like that you're not all about fancy gear - yet. Of course, that will change as you grow (and I truly hope your channel grows) and pretty soon you might find yourself leaving us common folk (or people like me who prefer simplicity and experiences over collecting gear) behind as you start getting new and expensive gear to use and 'review' (aka, sell). Anyhow, I'm really enjoying your videos, and look forward to them! Peace!
@JoshuaGammon
@JoshuaGammon 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the great comment. I'm not much of a talker anyways so the little bit of talking I do is just to explain something and sometimes I feel like chatting a little. I don't plan on leaving us common folk any time soon. lol. I'm just out here doing my thing and having fun, no plans on changing that. As far as the gear. I love playing with gear, I think all of us campers like to. I only show it the way I would use it with no influence from manufacturers, I plan on keeping things that way. Hope you have a great day and thanks for your interest in my adventures. :-)
@MHarenArt
@MHarenArt 3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. Great mix of talk/silent. (There are a few who talk too much) LOL) The totally silent feels sort of disconnected. I like to feel like the camper is actually sharing with me, talking to us. But - to each his own.

Good times with a simple and practical setup. Nice fire starter! I've made chicken soup while camping before so I know you had a good dinner. I'm going to try your coffee method on my next solo trip (I prefer coffee from home over the single-serve Folgers bags). You mentioned ideas; how about showing us behind the scenes prepping for a trip? What is important to you and how do you plan for a successful trip? Maybe film it and include it at the beginning of an upcoming video to show how it all fits together? Enjoyed this video and glad to see you had a chance to get away overnight. Cheers! Pete - KI7LIL

Hey Peter. Glad you like the coffee tip. That's a good idea. Maybe I'll do that. I guess it's just something I take for granted and I think about, but for someone that is a first timing might like that. Cheers dude.

@@JoshuaGammon Yep, just something simple... checking weather forecasts and pre-cooking some food for the trip. Then, while camping, let us know if the forecast was accurate, and then show how great camping meals are when a little prep at home is involved. Helpful tips before leaving home to make a good camping trip better.

Love your videos Josh you'll be famous soon! Question: 2:06 is that Chaga fungus? Do you guys have those in Canada or are they farther North? I notice they tend to thrive on Birch trees. They make a great antioxidant medicine, adaptogenic immune system boosting tea.

Hey TSS. Thanks and I'm glad you like the videos. That is not chaga in this video just a tree mushroom. Chaga is black/brown and yes we do have some here in the woods. I know a location where there a large piece but i'm waiting until the cold to take some off the tree.

That's toooooooo cold for me. I'd climb into that sleeping bag and hibernate. I'd heat logs of wood up, wrap them in a towel and put them at the foot of the sleeping bag. It's Summer here in the RSA 🇿🇦 and am watching this and cooling down. Contradicting myself hey? Enjoy.

Nice video... I have a few doubts... First of all you had a very few sleeping pads... I mean below the sleeping bag..?? Secondly the fire pit was quite far from your ⛺ tent , in such a scenario how will the heat help you to be comfortable? Thirdly what kind of wild animals are living in these woodlands ?
@JoshuaGammon
@JoshuaGammon 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris. I had two sleeping pads and two sleeping bags. I was so hot I had to keep the zip down to let some cool air in. The fire wasn't to keep warm when sleeping. Just for cooking and relaxing by the fire. I don't keep it going all night. Maybe when it's -30C. In the winter there is only coyotes around. Then black bears after spring is in full swing. Nothing to worry about really. Cheers.
