I carry a serrated vaquero xl. I love it. I carried a large Espada g10 for i guess 10 years then xhp became hard to get. So i wanted a knife that was cheap but easily replaced. I still carry a broken skull in xhp for everyday use. My newest favorite is a watchman we222 i carry on my neck. That takes the broken skull usage. Ill never stop carrying the vaquero its my incase bad words don't work knife. When you absolutely need to have something. Life seems a little bit easier when 5.5in of serrated steel is very accessible especially in Baltimore city. Serrated is very good when you need to go through tough fabric or leather. It doesn't leave a perfect slice instead it leaves a very jagged cut. I use a lansky ceramic rod made specifically for coldsteel serrations. I don't believe spyderco serrations are even close to coldsteel and even veff they are much better. But spyderco serrations are easier to sharpen in my experience.. Sorry for the long comment i was on a roll waiting for the coffee to brew. 😊 If i could make a perfect edc folder it would be a endura with the top of the blade serrated and the bottom 2in plain. Ive only seen one knife like that in my many years of using knives probably 40years. What do you think?

I'll say it, everybody should carry a serrated knife. They are better for most edc tasks than a plain edge. I carry a k390 delica SE everyday

Had some time so had to check in! I will say I’ve thought about the full serrated edge more then ever since you started the vids 😂

Microtech's serrations are fantastic! It reopened my eyes on how efficient serrations cut!

Thank you for this video! I've been wanting some k390 Spyderco and they have a couple serrated models that are on sale but I normally don't go fully serrated. This helped me make my decision!

Eric guesser said that the serrations on zdp189 were susceptible to breaking off. Michael Christy has a good video on serration sharpening. Ruby ceramic rods are available for cheap on ebay. I got the set but the 5mm and 2mm will probably get the big and small serrations.

I have some serrated H1s that just won’t die . It’s a great metal for serrated knives as they seem to get better with time . They don’t look pretty as they scratch up a bit , but they always work well.

I like half serrated. I do have some vintage fully serrated Spydercos though.

When those clips start to chip and wear, I like taking them off and fully sanding them down to bare metal. Polish them and they look GREAT. I’m thinking about bluing or parkeriziing some of them too. The thing that bums me out about serrations is they are difficult to re sharpen.

How often do you sharpen serrated?

I much prefer serrated knives. Lately I’ve been carrying the Spyderco rescue jr, what a great knife!!!

Agree, other brands come and go in my collection, but Spydercos are just always in my pocket. I prefer the Veff or Toor and Acta non Verba serration patterns, but CRKT sucks in general and ANV does not make my style of knife for the most part. it would be great if they would change their serration pattern where they only had the big teeth and not the small ones inbetween. Would make sharpening easier too.
