My ps4 is connected to a modem yeah. and it the LAN cable is snug, very snug. i even checked the rest of the cables and they were also snug, and i noticed that it isn't random, after the first crash. the second one will appear 30 minutes after the first one. its in loops of 30 minutes. every 30 minutes my wifi would disconnect from my ps4, and i'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with my ps4, because there are days that these crashes don't even happen. any advice?

@mysimplefix9 жыл бұрын
I'm starting to wonder by the comments left by you guys, how many OTHER people out there have thrown out their perfectly working routers all because a neighbour was sharing their same frequency? It's crazy when you think about it. TIP! - I've found, that using the "channel graph" mode in WiFi Analyzer (by Farproc) shown in the video works fine for me. I walk around my house with my Android phone connected to WiFi, while watching the screen to identify channels that are consistently vacant throughout the house (channel 14 apparently is only available in Japan?). Double tapping on the top-left of the screen toggles between 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz frequencies. BTW, you can use any program you like, I've just found the one by Farproc seems to work sufficiently for me.

Andrea Mitchell nice of you to ask. It's been a while since I put this video up, and since then everybody and their sister is making an app with this name. Sorry for the confusion. The developer for my WiFi analyzer app is "farproc". You'll need to walk around your home and monitor the incoming signals that are penetrating your living space. You'll need to pick a channel number on your router that no one else is using.

I have no clue whats going on with my wifi. When I moved here to florida, my home wifi modem / router werent working for a long time. When we called Bright House Networks for support, they scheduled us an appointment for our internet. They got rid of our "old" equipment, even though it worked last year; and replaced it with their own Arris modem / router. We kept our old access point from belkin, but now there's a big issue. Whenever the internet is being used, it only works for about I'd say 45 seconds. Then, it turns off for a minute or 2, and turns back on. Most of my notifications for my iPhone come in, and at the top they say stuff like "6 minutes ago, 9 minutes ago" even though I just get them. My xbox one s is plugged in through ethernet, but the connection STILL drops on my xbox, which means I can't game, or do anything in general other than watch youtube. Any solutions?

Hey! I’ve been having a different problem with my WiFi. It’s with mediacom and we have 5ghz but after about 2 or 3 months of having it we started experiencing this lag every 40 Seconds. If I were to be playing a video game (on Wired) id “teleport” or my ping would go to +200 every 40 seconds. If I’m on WiFi on my phone every 40 seconds it stops loading stuff up and I have to wait 10-15 seconds (happens sometimes or loading just slows down) our speeds are fast (150 down 50 up) I just don’t understand how to fix this lag. Any help would be appreciated !

@@yasinduneth Yeah I actually did, I hard reset my router! I held down a pin in the little hole on the back until my router reset, it fixed the 40-second lag situation. Then I called Mediacom and had them come over and they found some bad wires which when they fixed increased my internet speed by a lotttt. Just be careful when you hard reset your router, you might have to set a new password for it and maybe a new username. Look into it for your company/router what happens when you hard reset

If your router is separate from your modem, you could try to connect directly to your modem with your computer. If your connection issues go away, then your router would appear to be the problem. What do I do if there are like 5-10+ routers around me. My router is in my basement but it seems to be on the wrong channel. and i don't know which channel to change it to because all the other routers are randomly taking the channels. Except 14. Nothing is on channel 14 but it isn't labeled wi fi network like the other channels.
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
+Kameryn Sabino here's what I would do. I would log in to the router and pick ANY empty channel. Make sure the router is not set to pick a channel automatically! You said every channel is used? There should be SOMETHING available...? You said your router is downstairs. Make sure the router is not close to any cement walls, brick walls, or metal pipes. Also try to elevate the router as high up to the ceiling as possible. Possibly place the router on top of a cabinet or something near the center of the basement. That way the signal transmitted to your devices can propagate without being absorbed into the walls or cement I mentioned earlier. Metal pipes reflect radio waves, and "may" cause a problem if signals are weak.
@bean_ctm7248 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. You learn something new every day. Thanks so much. But about the channel thing. My wi fi is always on one channel. Looking at the app. But all the other people's wi fi networks jump between each channel randomly and i don't know what that means. And also. I have a question about multiple devices connected makes the internet go in and out. I disconnected everything that i could find and it seemed to help a lot but it isn't reliable. So if there are 5-10 plus devices connected to the wi fi all at once. Is that a problem? Thank you again.
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
Kameryn Sabino ok, you say "other people's wifi networks jump between each channel randomly". What you are likely seeing are your neighbours "weak" signals entering your house. That's normal. Weak signals will always be more erratic when they are weaker (lower in the graph) than when they are stronger. Also, when viewing the signals as multi coloured "arches", always keep it mind that the very top of the arch directly over the channel number is what you need to read! Don't worry if the sides of the arches cross with other people's wifi signals! For example, if yours is directly over channel 10, and your neighbours is over 11, that is not at all a problem. Also, with what I was saying earlier regarding positioning the router up high so the signals can propagate well, this will also cause your neighbours routers to see your router's channel. If their routers are set to automatically pick a channel when "they" turn on, their routers will pick a channel other than the one yours is using! If your router is hidden in your basement low to the ground, not only will your router signal be weak for you, but, your neighbours routers when they turn on will definitely not see your router and will likely at times pick the same channel you are using! Now, regarding multiple devices on your wifi, that's not at all a problem UNTIL, one or more of the devices starts using the maximum bandwidth of your internet connection, or your router. This could be likely a situation when a device is streaming HD video, and then another device also wants to do the same. Your internet bandwidth will likely dictate if that will be an issue. I hope this helped somehow.

What if you're on a channel on your own and still have issues?
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
+PK_Daddy I would first try eliminating the wireless router by plugging into the router with another device into an available Ethernet port with a laptop if one's available. I would then go to speakeasy.net/speedtest (or something equivalent) and do a speed test several times. If the results are consistently good, then make sure all antennas on your wireless router are threaded on snug, and try the same speed test wirelessly with maybe the same laptop (Ethernet unplugged from the laptop) and see if the results are similar. If they are similar, then maybe the device you are using may have issues. There is one thing I need to point out. There are still wireless 2.4 ghz phones that "may" possibly cause interference with wifi networks. If you have one, try unplugging it's power adapter from the wall temporarily to eliminate that possibly. If THAT fixes your problem, then change your cordless phone's channel setting to another one. AND... if that first speed test I mentioned back at the beginning (when plugged into your router) fails as well, then either you have a poor connection to your router/modem, or one of those 2 maybe defective. I have gone through 3 wireless routers in the past 9 years or so. This latest one in the video has been working fine for a few years now.
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
+PK_Daddy.... when I said "eliminating the wireless router", I meant that part of the router. You would still be testing the "wired" part of the router.

My wifi connection on laptop/phone will only drop out when I am loading videos. How to fix?
@mysimplefix9 жыл бұрын
Videos require the largest "bandwidth" from your router and your Internet connection. If you suspect your wireless router is the problem, manually plug your laptop LAN cable into an available router LAN port, and then retry loading videos (make sure that your LAN adapter is enabled on your laptop when you do this). If your problems are gone, then try the steps in the video. If the steps do not help, then your wireless router may be defective. If you plug your laptop into the LAN port and there are no changes (still unable to load videos) then, next, plug your laptop directly into the modem. If it's STILL not working, your modem, or Internet connection out from your house is the problem. I hope this helps.

If there are that many wifi channels in your area using the 2.4 ghz frequency, I would purchase/use another router that supports the 5.0 ghz frequency instead. Fewer routers at this point in time use 5 ghz technology (which hopefully will be the situation in your area). Scan the location using the app I mentioned in the video using the 5 ghz setting. Are there vacant spaces available for you at that frequency? If you do choose to use the method I just mentioned, be sure to disable your 2.4 ghz wireless radio in your routers' setup screen, so you'll just be utilizing the 5.0 ghz frequency of your wireless router.

There is a possibility that your wireless router may be failing. I find some routers last anywhere from 2 or 3 years, and some last even longer. In the past 15 years, I have gone through 4 routers (2 that are wireless). Mine are always connected to a surge protector AND a surge protecting UPS. They just don't last forever! As I said in an earlier comment to another person, try and plug your laptop directly into your modem and see if your connection issues are remedied. If they are, try following the video for a solution. If you narrow the issue down to the wireless radio section of your router, then, it might be toast.

Mysimplefix it's not the connections what's causing the problem. All my other devices (laptops, roku boxes, firetv sticks, cel phones) all connect to wi-fi without any problems. The only devices that are giving me problems are 2 tablets with OS Android 5.0 I've been doing a lot of research and most people running devices with OS 4.0 and 5.0 are having the same issue.

Soo how do you login to your router
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
Every router has its own unique procedure for logging in and making changes. You can google search for a method by searching "how to change channels router xxxxx" (xxxxx being the brand and model number).

+cian keane there isn't an open channel? Wow! 14 channels available... You could possibly switch to a 5 ghz router. There should be many vacant channels there.

Disconnect modem and router for a couple minutes. Then power the modem When online power the router then you should be okay. Sometimes you need to refresh (reboot) your devices so they can work properly again If that doesn't work then connect the modem to laptop using an ethernet cable and do a speed test. (Speed test.net) That would tell you how much mbps you are getting. Now if you are getting less than you are supposed to call your provider. Make sure your ethernet cable is of a good quality and a 5cata at least. Good luck!

Can someone help me? My Internet speed constantly drops to 0bytes every few seconds then goes back to normal. I'm the only one using the wifi and I know it, this happened just yesterday, please any solution for this? I'm using iOS

+Clarence John Alfonso if you have a cable modem, make sure that the threaded end of the cable that screws into the modem is not loose! Just snug it up finger tight. A loose connection will cause your internet to shut off intermittently.

I got a new laptop at the start of September(HP Stream, win10).. The internet worked perfectly on it at first, after about a month... The Wi-Fi started to randomly drop out and still does... This only effects my laptop, not our Xbox, PC (plugged into router), phones or Wii... Also, when it is connected, KZbin video quality goes straight down to the lowest megapixel setting there is... Help anyone please? P.S. It had a reset shortly after the internet was doing that because the shop staff thought it might have a virus.. Didn't fix it
@mysimplefix9 жыл бұрын
Did you try a vacant channel?
@drunknmunkyzz9 жыл бұрын
+Mysimplefix I would have thought that this has no effect because its not my router, its my laptop... Am I missing something important? 😂😂😂
@mysimplefix9 жыл бұрын
The position of the laptop compared to the other devices may be a factor. I'd suggest at least verifying that no other neighbours wifi channels are interfering with your setup.

+Mysimplefix Hmm interesting, I'll check that, thanks buddy.. And also, off topic, but do you know how I can update my Wi-Fi driver manually? Instead of updating it through Windows just in case that's the reason?

What if changing channels won't fix it
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
+tokenrow669 it is possible that your wireless router is failing. Do other wireless devices in your possession also lose connection with your wireless router? If they do, try to hardwire a laptop or something directly to your router using a lan cable. If the connection is good then quite possibly you have a loose antenna or the wireless part of your router has failed and you will need to replace it.
@tokenrow6698 жыл бұрын
+Mysimplefix yes my computer has good signal on speed test and 2 phones,my tablet and xbox drop wifi and buffer youtube videos and Netflix about 5-6 times an hour. My router does have an external antenna. I've had the router for about going to 3months. Called ISP and Motorola and evrything is good. Never had this problem until now. It's a Motorola Sbg 6580
@tokenrow6698 жыл бұрын
+tokenrow669 my router *does not* have an external antenna.
@mysimplefix8 жыл бұрын
tokenrow669 if your wireless devices' connections all drop out when connected (but your wired connections do not drop out) , and you have tried "several" empty channels without success, then I would say your router is defective. Before condemning the router be sure to try several empty channels one at a time. If it's defective, you'll have the same results. I'm suggesting to try several channels just in case there is a device not showing up in your list of 2.4 ghz networks in the app (like maybe from a nearby 2.4 ghz phone).

If you are using a bluetooth paired remote control, there would be an interference on your wifi signal by the bluetooth signal. Unpair the bluetooth remote and operate only via infrared mode and you will find that your wifi signal becones stable and reliable.

I'm using "Wi-Fi analyzer" by farproc in the video. In the video I'm showing still image shots at different places in my house. Your view will of course be live and moving as you walk through your place. You can toggle between 2.4 and the 5 ghz by tapping on the top left corner of your screen in the app (at this point in time) BTW, you can use any other app for this that works for you, but this Android App works well for me.

Great video, thanks for uploading!! Unfortunately, I'm surrounded by at least a dozen other wifi networks because I live in close proximity to other people so I can't move my channel to escape bumping into their wifi signals... oh well

+Kyle M see if you can get your hands on an N router. It's a 5GHz router. Most wifi networks at this time are 2.4 GHz. You should have more options with frequency selection.
