for anyone having confusion with the fifth step with the 4/3 thing, here's the formula used in that step: (x+y)² = x²+2xy+y² or we can write it as x²+2xy+y² = (x+y)² So, here is what he does (at 3:00) : =x² + 4/3x + (2/3)² =x² + 2*2/3*x + (2/3)² =(x+2/3)² Tell me if it was too confusing.. 😅

I've learned Completing the Square a few different ways helping my kids, but this method is easier to learn and execute. Thank you for mixing in an easier problem! I would suggest checking your answers, which takes 5 seconds.

This is a very good example, thank you for making it. I studied Quadratic Equations in the late eighties, and I never saw this way of solving X; however, this method is totally inefficient. I solved this equation using the quadratic formula in only 4 steps, then I watched your video to check if I had resolved it correctly (I haven't solved anything like this in over 30 years), and I got it right, as I said, using the formula in only 4 steps.

What a bloody complicated solution! I did it mentally. Pretty straightforward. Obviously you have 3x times x giving first parts of both brackets. 15 is obviously 5 x 3, with one of them being negative. Just do some simple multip[lication to get positioning to give 9x - 5x. i.e. (3x - 5) (x + 3) Last time I did this sort of stuff was some nearly 60 years ago at school.

Easy way... 3x² +4x - 15=0 3x² + (9x-5x) - 15=0 3x² + 9x - 5x -15=0 3x(x+3) -5(x+3)=0 Again taking common... (x+3)(3x-5)=0 Comparing each term with 0, we get... x=-3 or x=5/3...
