Nice idea. I took the cheap way out. I cut two dowels 49mm long for the top position and two dowels 64mm long for the bottom positions. I put the dowels in the same locations you show. So far no movement of the honeycomb or crumb tray.

Great idea! Can I make one modification for you? Add springs over the grub screws to help keep them from backing off. The other thing you could do is add a stop nut. Just thinking it may help. Ill try this with springs today.

I have not had them come loose but I like the spring Idea may make putting them on easier. I did think of lock tight on one side but they have stayed in place really well. But I love improving any idea let me know if it works out better if you try it.

So at least the middle of the honey comb is magnetic. I wonder if there might be a way to lock it down with magnets. This is a good solution, though. I think you could put a neodymium magnet on the crumb try to the left of the honey comb and keep it from moving. You might need two. If the crumb tray is aluminum you could just put another neodymium magnet underneath the tray right below the magnets on the top to keep the honeycomb in place.

I'm not sure - I was thinking about on off magnets but they are pretty big

Thanks for this tip! Can I use these without the riser base?
@ALXSHARPEN11 ай бұрын
No need the crumb tray is screwed into the top level of the laser the riser base you remove all the screws that hold it in so you can fit larger items inside and move it like a rack in an over up and down as needed

I want to solve two problems. I want to keep my tray and honeycomb from moving in the X and Y direction, and I want a registration mechanism that I can slide my workpiece against like the fence on a table saw. With a stop block on the fence, I could slap an endless succession of identical work pieces into the S1 and know that each one would be positioned identically.

I have been trying to find a low profile on/off magnet to do like you mention with the fence but have not seen any that are small enough to not hit the laser head.

i have the UK Riser version of the S1 which is solid & is not the same as in the USA ( EU regulations) so there is no front gate which would be ideal. In order to comply with the above video , you have to remove S1 & then undo the riser completely before completing the above.....at least this is where i am as i write!....if i come up with an easier solution will let you know

no gate I guess you can't use the pass through extension for large items ?

I had been wondering about the lack of a riser base compatible with the conveyor over here. Where can I read more about the restriction? I see they sell it on AliExpress, and was thinking of buying it and the conveyor and importing.

Unfortunately that is the case…..am looking at the Riser base & options on how a makeshift gate could work…sure it s feasible

I wonder why can you order from Amazon in the USA

I’ve looked at this option……possible hiccup is the electric….however there is a way around that….,I’ll have another look at the USA options
