Today, I’m going to be solving a $40,000 Puzzle. This is a unique, one of a kind, hand crafted puzzle designed and crafted by Craig Thibodeau and Robert Yarger (stickman). This design took about a year and a half from conception to completion. Made of macore, wenge and brass. The goal, is to retrieve the Holy Grail!

That was so cool how the grail retracts and then emerges when the puzzle was solved… just like an Indiana Jones movie! However, the clue, as I saw another comment, should’ve been integrated somehow or not even mentioned at all. It wasn’t that hard of a part of the puzzle to solve. If you have a table that rotates, of course you will rotate it until something happens. Other than that, this puzzle was crazy!

This puzzle is worth 40k. winding it more than 90 before bringing it back can probably damage the mechanics. On the other hand, if its worth 40k, he could have made it work so that its a damage-proof puzzle basically.

Alternative idea: You go and meet your guest in your home for tea. You mention the priceless gold chalice you keep in your home as decor, it is sitting in the room your guest is waiting in. You leave the room only to come back tealess and say youve sadly run out of tea bags but offer them instead a drink of top notch wine for the trouble. The guest declines until you sweeten the deal by offering to let them drink from your chalice. The guest, intrigued and mesmerized by the idea of drinking out of the chalice agrees as it would make a great story to brag about in the future. You tell them to lift the glass to fetch the chalice, the chalice falls. You cry out in hysterics pretending not to know the table did that. The guest is now stunned and confused and you have sucessfully upset the guest for trying to touch your chalice.

That feature to let you pre-load the mechanism to make the grail be able to appear again is a great idea! Nearly as great as your face when it came up. :) Since it disappeared initially, I was curious how to "charge" the puzzle with some energy to bring it back. If you put back the lid and lift it after it came up, will it immediately disappear again or do you need to unload the mechanism with some additional steps before you can restart? Great puzzle and video!

I think there is a connecting gear, that when you lift the lid, it will disconnect the gear and make it fall down. When you solve it you lock the gear in and charge the spring to pull it up. So probably to reset it you need to put the lid on and unlock the gear again.

It's crazy how you just start probing and find all these things that move, come off and push in. I know if it were me I would look at it for about 5 minutes then get really frustrated and give up. The sheer difficulty of finding all the pieces and solving them amazes me that someone could build such a masterpiece of a puzzle, much less solve one. I recently found your videos and each and everyone leaves me stunned. It's great to see another Canadian content creator, especially one that does stuff I'm really interested in. That's how he solves almost all of these puzzles is he looks for the parts that want to move and focuses on figuring out how to actually make that happen. THEREFORE if I was making these puzzles, I would integrate all sorts of red herrings into the puzzle. Parts that wiggle but otherwise do nothing just to throw him off. I would maybe even try to have parts that ARE supposed to move but don't give the same wiggle "tells", but that might be physically impossible.

video is edited. Took more than 10 min. Also, it is a 1 off puzzle. And its clear that the experience of the puzzle is what they spent the time on, not complexity. No other puzzle on earth has that level of WOW. You're severely undervaluing the two creators' time if you think that its 'too simple'. 20k in design adn 20k in craftsmanship is only 2-3 months of time for each assuming a reasonable salary, pre-tax, etc to make something that will only make them profit once. $40K a simple little Hanayama puzzle probably costs a similar anmount in R&D and purcchasing machining components and ordering materials but they get to sell thousands and thousands and make way more profit.

Hey Chris, I'm autistic and going through the pandemic was really taking a toll on me; since I love going for nature walks. Your videos are how I unwind, seeing you solve puzzles and I find myself screaming at my screen sometimes when I see a solution. "Oh Chris, it's right there! You missed it". You're a very talented content creator who puts in hard work. Thank you for your videos.

It's absolutely beautiful! However, would have enjoyed the solve more if the hint was incorperated into the work of art. Maybe etched into the inside of the brass pieces that are removed; either by doing one line in a longer riddle or coded message on each piece (as it is the holy grail), or simply having etched: '⊾' and 'x4'. I love the simplicity of the expensive wood with the brass under the holy grail that I personally wouldn't have wished them to ruin the outside finish with some carved message on a panel (unless it was beautifully done & inlayed with brass;P). Still a stunning piece of work none the less! I'm so excited to see how they managed that without electronics, I'm over the moon impressed!

By far the greatest intro of ANY online youtube site that I have ever seen! This rates up there with Indiana Jones and The Raiders! You could easily produce a movie with you in it going through places having to solve puzzles so as to find the lost treasure or something. You have already proved that you have that great talent in making movies!!! Just fantastic and the intro had me wanting more, so much more!!!! Just fantastic.
