Here’s a problem: it’s 9 buttons meaning theoretically you can use four fingers each and a thumb AND the alarm only sounds after 4 buttons are pressed at the same time, meaning he only gets the error after 3 successes, that’s confusing specially when you are on a time limit and not watching on KZbin while drinking coffee

Nope.. wrong process to solve it.. you need to hold down 4 buttons equivalent to the numbers that arent covered by the correct panel. Buttons' numerical value is the order they flashed.. there are 9 buttons.. the panel that shows the zero or has more than 4 numbers visible are red herrings.

The plates covered the number pad, revealing only 4 numbers. The 4 numbers were the placement of the correct buttons within the sequence of the 9 green buttons lighting up. He had to keep trying different plates as only 1 indicated the correct numbers in the sequence to press. i.e. if the 'winning' plate showed 1,2,3&4, you would need to hold the first 4 green buttons that lit up.
