I recently did an entire Vlog using the Tamron 11-20 F2.8 on my A7IV! The Tamron is your best option in my opinion! I'll have a full review coming in the future! Thanks Jason for a few other good options.

@OfficialGundem you have to use crop mode on the a7IV. Or shoot in 4k60 because it forces you to shoot in crop mode. If you don't also own an aps-c camera I would just get the full frame version. Unless you plan on shooting mostly 4k60 for whatever you do.

Maybe it had not been announced yet but I now have the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary to deal with this even though I’m really not a videographer but I do own an A7CII. I bought it originally to go on my new A6700 and mate up with the Sigma 18-50/2.8 DC DN Contemporary. I like this pair a lot even though the don’t have IBIS. Both my A7CII and A6700 do have it. Have you looked at the Sigma since this video was made? Any thoughts you want to share? Take care.

Question about Clear Image Zoom (CIZ) in video 4K60fps: My understanding is that the a6700 digs in the oversampling to get the CIZ without much decrease in resolution. However with A7Cii, since the 60fps already is just sensor readout without initial oversampling, does that mean CIZ is degrading the quality? Thanks for answers/comments.

the 4k30 will be a little bit sharper as it's 7k downsample to 4k, but the 4k60 should still be very good

Mixing 1080p60 with 4K24p? It's not too bad! We had been doing that since the a7III days back in 2018. The best advice I would give is use telephotos as often as you can for 1080p60 - it will look sharper and match better with 4K24p!

a7cii has AF issue with third party lenses like Tamron and Sigma.. they wobble a lot when taking stills and it takes few seconds to focus on object in video mode. hope they fix this issue soon.

I would go for A7CII, viewfinder and more megapixels. While using the cameras as a web camera the resolution goes down to 720p, so the crop on 4k60 won't matter

I just focused on ULTRAwide. Lenses that will give you the FOV that FF lenses won’t when filming in 4K60p. The 15mm is considered just wide which is almost equivalent to a 24mm!

Somehow, I believe this is a software limitation on Sony's part and the camera has the capability of recording in 4K 60 FPS, albeit shorter time due to overheating. I suspect Sony decided to force this mode to differentiate their product line.

My understanding is the issue is that the sensor/chip (coming from the A7iv) just isn't able to process 4k60p at full frame mode consistently & reliably - the speed of the sensor isn't there. And that's also why they have lower fps than other similar cameras (10fps), so the compromise is to crop in. The A7CR has a much less crop at 4K60 similar to it's 'parent' the A7RIV (1.2 vs 1.5) - so likely not an overheating issue with the body. I think only the A1 has the ability to shoot 4k60 full-frame - as that camera is designed to be fast (30fps in photo-mode) and keep up the quality. Saw a video the other day that someone was having autofocus issues with their Canon R7 (33mp aps-c) when taking photos of birds - that it would loose focus when shooting bursts at 30fps. Some frames would be perfect focus but some would not. The work-around solution recommended from Canon was to drop it into a lower 15fps or even 8fps in lower light situations - all the processing in the camera couldn't keep up at 30fps even though it can shoot at that mode. Sony might just know that the camera as a whole can't reliably & consistently do everything it needs to at 4k60 full-frame and decided instead to crop in by 1.5.

​@@ABRouleauvilleInteresting comment and you might have a point here, I'm just wondering why Sony didn't instead opt to still read out from edge to edge on the sensor whilst only reading every other pixel for example and downsampling from half of the sensor's pixel spread across the entire size. That way you don't get a crop as well. Or, provided it has nothing to do with overheating, maybe pixel-binning in-sensor before sending the signal to the IPU could be an option. The only reason why they wouldn't do that is because it would necessitate more transistors on the sensor itself, increasing the bill of materials only to improve a feature that the camera isn't even trying to be great at considering it's in the stills photography segment rather than the videography segment. It would also completely negate the ZV-E1. All that being said, I think this is something that a third or fourth generation might improve on, since cropped video is a tough sell and hybrid shooting is an ever increasing demand.

A7cII>A7cR>A1>A7IV... I mean, I found some site with samples and at iso100k A7cII wins, A7cR is better, but difference is small, it got no iso200k, burst shooting is bad. A7IV is bad. A1 got worse details. Even in samples here on yt I could see the grass greener compared to A7IV, there is something going on. In positive way.

The biggest issue with the A7C and the A7iv is the rolling shutter. Period. The object is not to get your viewers sick which is what these two cameras do. A FX3 or A7S would be a better choice than causing motion sickness with your viewers.
