I've found an easier strategy to solve the last problem. Similar to how you might multiply two fractions to get a common denominator, multiply both equations to get a common value to cancel. For my example, I chose the x values. Multiply the top equation by three and the bottom equation by negative four. The 4x(3) and 3x(-4) become 12x and -12x which cancel easily. Then solve. Hope this helps.

earlier today we had a quiz about substitution method and point slope, two point slope, slope intercept form stuff it has 5 questions and I don't really get what our teacher teaches us about substitution method cuz when I'm remembering what are our math teacher teaching us it has like long process of solving this method it has like Equation 1, Equation 2 and ofc Equation 3. I was like wtf I don't really get it it took us like 5-10 minutes to solve one question on substitution method even my classmates are confused about the topic and that was few days ago, now back to the quiz story a lot of us failed because most of us are confused except to our nerdy classmates we had and yeah most of us failed and it was hard to remember the long process and sh*t now I came across to this vid AND IT WAS FREAKING HELPFUL THAT THIS METHOD AND PROCESS IS SHORT AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND NOW I AM RE-DOING MY QUIZ which is useless to double check on my math teacher for now But really thanks you saved my life, now I am reviewing stuff because we are gonna take an exam tomorrow wish me luck!!!!

TheMJT515 alright so when y is a single variable you apply substitution but when y has a number infront of it you apply elimination, if y has a number infront of it and you can’t apply elimination you divide all the other ones in the equation by the number y has so y will be a single variable. Example: 3x+5y=20. You divide all of them by 5 so it will be y=4-0.6x. Then you just apply it to your other equation like 4x+10(4-0.6x)=12 or something yeah.
