All I can say is that I have lived in my current home for over 18 years and from day one, come June 1st, I was unable to even go in my backyard without getting covered in mosquitos. I tried so many different solutions and nothing worked. 3 weeks ago, I put an ounce of dawn in my sprayer with water. I waited until the lawn was dry and misted all around in my garden and grass and within a few days, I have not been attacked by mosquitos! There have been a few random demons, but I just get the sprayer and spray some more. It works! Thank you so much for your video!

1 oz of dawn per 1 gallon of water?
@Richard-nb4iv5 ай бұрын
@@ahnguyen1 use two to three ounces of dawn ultra per 1000sqft and it will green up your grass as well. It's a surfactant that breaks down the hydroscopic layer on your soil.
@ebrelsford5 ай бұрын
@@Richard-nb4iv wow! great information! Could you explain that process a bit further?
@Richard-nb4iv5 ай бұрын
@@ebrelsford Hi, there are quite a few youtubers that have videos covering this topic. Last year I tried it out using Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. This year I'm using Dawn Ultra because it's a better buy at Walmart. On the back of the Dawn it also states that it's a surfactant. That is important to look for. Don't get anything antibacterial, that may kill off all your important microbes in your lawn. The soap ( surfactant) helps breakup the top layer of oils in your lawn's soil to allow the much needed water to reach the roots of the grass. I have used a hand pump sprayer at 2-3oz per gallon for 1000sqft as well as a scotts/ chapin garden house style feeder with about 5oz mixed with water. I used less with the pump sprayer because the limited water. The garden hose sprayer I used more and just gauged how much the level went down with the total square footage of my total lawn. I prefer the garden hose style because your giving your lawn a good watering at the same time. Hope this helps!

For those of you who are interested. Soap breaks down water particles. In layman terms for example: it takes a drop of water and turns it into hundreds of finer water particles. Like crushing a grain of salt into finer granules. That's what soap does to water. The irony of soap is that it doesn't actually clean. It's the water that cleans because it has been broken down so small it can get under and through the crud that is there. You might say it's a water thinner, and that is how it works.
@LowellAlb Жыл бұрын
Soap DOES react with grime and grease to make something that is soluble in water. If your theory were correct, then we could have used the same soap again and again several times.
@antichrist_revealed Жыл бұрын
@@LowellAlb It's not a theory, it's fact. Years ago I watched a program that showed the molecular level of water before and after the implementation of soap, and they showed that soap doesn't actually clean as we have been lead to believe. But what it does is break water down enough that it can penetrate and go through and under objects like dirt and grime which allows the water to do the cleaning. I told my co workers about it the next day, and they suggested I "get a life" and not watch programs on soap and how it works. Yet here it is many years later, and I still haven't forgot. It's not a theory.

Mosquitos use standing water in ponds, marshes, puddles, tires, buckets, etc... to lay and hatch their eggs into nymphs that later turn into mosquitos. Spraying Dawn on your lawn will kill the grass, but putting a few drops in buckets of water around your property to encourage female mosquitos to lay eggs and drown in those buckets is the right approach. Spraying your lawn is the oddest suggestion I've come across.

I use the kiddy pool gardening system promoted by Larry Hall. Plants in grow bags in kiddie pools. Saves water, gives the plant just what it needs, and gives you a buffer against plants dying because you forgot to water. Also oxygenates the roots, etc. It's perfect for hot Southern California. The only problem is the standing water that mosquitoes love. There are a number of ways to deal with it, but I just use dish soap (not antibacterial and with the least unnecessary ingredients) in a similar dilution in the standing water. No mosquitoes and the plants seem to love it too. You need to reapply the soap as needed.
@diGritz13 жыл бұрын
Dawn also contains methylisothiazolinone and 1,4-dioxane. The first is toxic to marine organisms, the second is a ground water contaminant. A better, safer and cheaper method, take some used vegetable oil that your going to toss anyways and throw it out on to the standing water. This prevents the larvae from going to the surface and breathing. It requires a very thin film and it doesn't effect anything else but the larvae. Been doing it for decades and it works great. No Dawn and no sprayer.

Start with a big enough yard. Not sure how far they fly but I think 100 acres should do.

@@wadebradley7388 why you think the homies wear tall socks? I mean we all know the higher the socks the downer the Vato but where it comes from is trying to keep the off in your socks just in case you’re out with your ruca and them suckahs try and jump a MF
@georgesedeno78913 жыл бұрын
Dude...they gang up on you with the several roach gangs from different rooms in your house. The roaches from the baño and the ones from the kitchen spy on you when you're in bed with your Ruca. "Watcha vato!", I hear them exclaim! Fisgones they are!

your text at the end of the video needs editing, you say put dawn in the sprayer first to avoid foaming then squirt in the dawn

I put a couple drops of Dawn in a white pan of water then hang a light bulb about 6” above the water. It catches fleas, knats and other insects that get in the house. Same surface tension theory drowns anything that touches the water.

My mother ( born 1927 ) used Palmolive if my memory serves me right. I have always loved cleaning and finding better cleaning methods/products. My first was Prell Shampoo that was the best to clean my oily hair. Then I started using Cheer Laundry Detergent for cold water. Next I used Mean Green to melt away cigarette smoke on walls/windows/etc. Also for glass and more I use Sprayway. PB Blaster Penetrating Rust Busting Spray. The big discovery has been Dawn. I wash my dishes/glasses/silverware/pots & pans, my whole body, my walls, stove, anything. Now I am going to spread the words of this video to rid the world of as many mosquitoes as possible. Thank you sir and God bless you richly.

The thing I learned about dawn while washing the roof of my vinyl shred when I disturbed a nest of Hornets is they can't fly if the soap gets on their wings. ❤❤❤ Also it gets rid of the yellow spots on the lawn where the rabbits pee

Most any dish detergent will work, not just Dawn. All dish detergents alter the surface tension of water. If your neighbors do not treat for mosquitoes, you will still have them.

According to Readers Digest: How long do mosquitoes live? According to the American Mosquito Control Association, the lifespan of these insects really varies by species, with the majority of mature female mosquitoes living just two to three weeks. However, some female mosquitoes can live up to 100 days. And some types of mosquitoes are known to survive in places like garages and attics for up to six months. .

Second comment - Just as with fruitflies, when the mosquitos go to land on the water, theyll sink straight to the bottom. This is how/why it works

It may work in urban enviorment's but not in cities composed of concrete and such. I live in a area in the subtropics, which breeds gazillions of mosquitoes. The issue is they get into the house, which haveing the various concoction's like dawn not to work. Because good insect's as well as bad ones are attracted to light. I utilize a simple large bowl on top of a kitchen cabinet with a bait mosquitoes in this area are attracted too. Though it only takes one or two in a house to be bother sum. I no longer have the issue, as they are more attaacted to the bait then either myself or wife. And only have to replace the bait once or twice a year.

It doesn't have to be dawn, any dish detergent will work. and it works well. you can even put out a bucket of soapy water in the shade somewhere and mosquitoes will flock to it and drown.

At work we have sumps filled with water. we put a bunch of dawn in them every time doesn't stop anything. Maybe its because I live in Florida.
@juanaespinoza737 Жыл бұрын
The problem iis that it does get the job done but its the fact that to lay eggs the female still will come looking for it. Then it looks for the barrel with the Dawn. It means the mosquito has bitten .
