Super Paper Mario was also the first Paper Mario Game I played and I too love it. It's probably one of my favorite games (if it hadn't been for Ace Attorney). You described it really well and some things are really relatable, especially being stuck in the overthere as a kid. Seriously, it was just the worst. But i just love the rest of the game and as you said the story was absolutely amazing. It was literally written like an anime and not like a typical Nintendo Mario game at all. Sadly Nintendo doesn't make Mario games like these anymore because we all know how Nintendo thinks nowadays. Also the soundtrack is godlike and also very fitting and emotional, it has just the perfect soundtrack in my eyes. I also read on the Wiki that one of the composers wife or husband worked on the Origami King soundtrack, maybe that's the reason why both of those OSTs are just perfect.
@sombertoboggly2 жыл бұрын
yes the overthere still gets on my nerves haha! but yeah, nintendo doesn't make games like this anymore and it's unfortunate. this game really is just unlike anything else. however i was pretty pleased with origami king, and like you said the soundtrack for that game seriously is wonderful. appreciate the comment!
@Phoenix_Wrong2 жыл бұрын
@@sombertoboggly Yeah origami king was pretty decent and the people also seem to like it more than the previous two games. i still would've preferred something like the first three games but it still did fairly well. Aside from the soundtrack I also found the battle system interesting, especially the boss battles, and the locations. the locations were unique and UNBELIEVABLY beautiful. the only thing I absolutely hate about this game is that you NEED TO PLAY THE GAME WITHOUT DYING AND WITHOUT USING ANY BADGES TO TRULY 100% THE GAME AND IT DOESN'T SAY THAT AT ANY POINT IN THE GAME, and the funny thing is that there is one point in the game where you have to decide where you want to go next and if you choose the wrong way YOU GET EATEN BY A CHAIN CHOMP AND THEREFORE AN INSTANT GAME OVER WITHOUT ANY WAY TO TELL WHICH PATH IS THE CORRECT ONE. or maybe I was just dumb xd, but I really don't know what I had to look for.

As a kid, me and my friend got stuck in world 3 and never made it past that lol. Yeats later(I was very young, still in 4th grade lol) another friend randomly mentioned the game, and I remembered that I never beat it. So I went back and did finally beat it, but you better believe 4th grade me was just skipping most of the dialogue lol. And besides, romance stories are just considered cringe by children. Quite a few years later I replayed it (I was going on a huge spree of just revisiting old Wii games of mine), and it quickly became my favorite game. The story is amazing, the visuals are great, there’s some humor and life injected into he main Mario cast, and Peach was more than just someone who needed saving. It truly is a one of a kind deal, and I highly doubt Nintendo will ever make a game like it again. But it really, really is something special.

@MCA_Critic2 жыл бұрын
@@sombertoboggly older games really are the ones where it’s at, especially concerning Nintendo. As I mentioned, I was revisiting plenty of my Wii games and not just SPM, and I was surprised by how well some of them held up, and how much more I could appreciate them. Mario Galaxy was great, and still much better than the second overall to me(you can actually see how original stories were beginning to go away with Galaxy 2, still mad Rosalina was only at the end) simply because Rosalina and her family of lumas gave the player such a motive to actually beat Bowser. There are some other great games too like Epic Mickey(if you don’t know what that is, I highly recommend picking it up. It was my favorite game before I revisited SPM), which modern day Disney would never be bold enough to create. Maybe one day we’ll see Nintendo tolerate a good story, but I doubt it. Super Paper Mario is definitely interesting for a Mario game, and especially so for a Paper Mario game, it has this surprisingly deep story dealing with concepts like the inevitability of death, the horror of knowing the future, the tragedy of a lost love, this is a story you'd expect to see in an rpg, but, as an entry in what has been up to this point, a series of rpg games, well, a series of two games, this one is just a platformer. When would you ever expect a kind of story like this in a Mario game? It's pretty out of of left field for a series about two italian plumbers rescuing a princess from a fire-breathing turtle. I liked Super Paper Mario, too, and the story definitely stuck with me when I first played through it back when I was twelve, but the original Paper Mario has always been my favorite, I have such great memories playing through it with my dad and my sister when I was little. [glances over at sticker star] a little less surprising for a mario game but very surprising for THIS mario game specifically. i'm not normal about it at all and even though i missed out on a good chunk of that whole childhood nostalgia by failing to clear the first full chapter, it sticks with me a lot since my first full playthrough the main thing i remember from playing it as a kid was that the void absolutely terrified me and i think i wouldve lost my mind if i had gotten to a point where you actually see the void grow i think i would have cried.

Hopefully you'll pour your passion into similar retrospectives going forward! As for the Thousand-Year Door remake, I can respect the idea of holding off on re-buying a game you already own, but you might want to consider making an exception for this, as, if this sells, this might convince Nintendo that we need more games like this, and that Paper Mario 2 is actually phenomenal! Who knows? Maybe they'll go even further and give us *more* GameCube games if we convey to them that their cube-shaped failure is actually a success to the fans.

Besides, Gta v doesn't even come close to being such a masterpiece as this game was! It is absolutely FILLED with riddles, and I love this

idk what it is about this game but i grew up playing the wii aswell and this was byfar the best game on there. it was a simple story for a kid to understand and love. what made it so great is how there were challenges for everyone in the game. everywhere you went everyone faced a crisis and everyone needed to come together to stop it. even count bleck faced many challenges too which i think is what made this game so great. 2 sides trying to stop eachother but they eventually see what is right and what needs to be done. everything is amazing about this game the characters and their development, and the music truly brings on a different atmosphere at times. but whats sad is nintendo wanted the story to end. they made an amazing game that i still love to this day and they intended for there to never be a sequel from the start. but the ending feels so empty

Going off of the nostalgia aspect, I remember as a kid I was told I could get Super Mario Galaxy 2 after beating Galaxy 1. Well, when I finally beat it, I was hit with the disappointing news that it was too expensive at the time, but I could still get a game. My Mom saw this one and suggested it. BEST. DISAPPOINMENT. EVER.

annnd in case you haven't played dying light 2 on the ps4, you are missing out. Okay not really, it's a very brutal game, but it's reaaaaally fun to play. Trust me.

I never finished this game. I kinda wanna replay it now after watching this but I'm afraid I won't love it as much as I did in the past. I stopped on chapter 5 of the game.

even though i like it, the general consensus is that chapter 5 is one of the weaker chapters. i'd recommend giving it a try again though if you really feel like it! worst case it isn't as good as you remember but on the other hand you could still love it

God, I love seeing super paper Mario content, I started playing it when I was 4 with my dad, and ever since then, I’ve replayed it 5 or 6 times, I even have the Wii in my room for whenever I feel like playing, it’s truly one of my favourite games of all time, great video!

This is a game I both love and really dislike. I got 2 copies of this game once when I was very young maybe 3rd grade and the 2nd time around 7th or 8th grade. I liked it enough to get a second copy a few years after something happened maybe it got scratched or I lost it. But I still couldn’t bring myself to play it getting stuck several times throughout the game. 3 major ones the first being at the door to the first boss because of the game’s bad mechanics of revealing things by switching from 2d to 3D and revealing things by pointing the wii remote. The second time was at the mansion in which you need to grind out rubys. This was the one I was stuck in when I lost the first copy. I basically hated the game from that point since turning the game on would make me start that grinding process and get bored out of my mind before I did anything. After getting the second copy I used the Internet to get me all the way to hell in which you need to find Luigi with the stupid pointing mechanic again that hadn’t been used for a long time. I only found out about him actually being down there after having sold my Wii U looking the game up on KZbin. There was still so much I liked about it how Mario looked like and the way the levels would start with the blanc screen being painted in and of course the writing whenever I stopped skipping it.
