I love grumpy Paula ❤ one of my favorite things about your videos/podcast is how real you guys are. A lot of fitness people are so about positivity which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I definitely relate more to Paula 😊 (PS I didn’t even realize at first I put a slash in but even though I’ve noticed I’m still leaving it in 🤪)

Eric, please keep making videos. Even short videos with you telling a story is good. Just do it by yourself and about you. I can see how freely you are communicating with your fans. Its very nice of you that you keep friendships with your fans. I have been watching your channel for a long time. Good luck on your next race.

Sorry again! I always seem to be playing catch-up of late. Been away in Mallorca racing the Challenge Mallorca just returned to the UK. Another great video, how you catch such great footage of Paula in the pool is fantastic, and the music edit is on point as usual. I thanked Paula for an item my friend who works for the PTO got for me, so again if you're still reading these replies then again thank you so much, Paula. Stay safe see you next week, much love from the UK.

Amazing video as always. Just wanna say thank you for the videos and community. Raced my second 100k (ran 70 miles because I got lost) and placed 2nd. I watch and rewatch your videos in the mornings at 3:30am. Knowing there’s others out there keeps me moving forward even when it’s not fun or exciting. Here’s to being better everyday 🎉💚✌🏽

Paula we all have those moments leading into a race, no need to apologize. I always say it’s part of the sport! Do you get the race forgetfulness .. or the double checks.. having to make sure u have everything twice! Lol… 😂😂 Paula I agree whole heartily about your TT bike go with comfort that is producing more power, you have trained the most on that bike this year. Completely get your reasoning!

Amazing as usual and in no way grumpy! Realistic, honest, tired from all your hard work - for sure and that’s ok and that’s what we are here for as well because it’s real and we love supporting you guys in the real ❤️❤️❤️ smash it and know we are all here behind you guys (and hanging out for the gooey delicious drone vids). Also very fair call on the bike Paula! You have to be comfortable and confident and it’s such a great lesson for all of us as well. Pick what makes you comfortable and what will keep you in the right mindset of feeling powerful and confident in a race not worried. I did the same thing when switching from SPDSLs to SPD mountain bike cleats, I just feel more confident with grippier shoes so I don’t slip when I put my foot down on the road or rest it on the pedal (because I’m still learning and am still a bit scared) and the double sided pedals also really help. Sure they’re not road bike setup specific and will be heavier and such, but I feel confident, happy and empowered with them and that’s what counts. ❤️ sending lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺🐨❤️

A grumpy video is way better than no video! I can only imagine how tiring it must be doing all that training and then filming, editing on top of that. Keep being real! It's still an awesome video - thanks for getting it out. :)
@scottholland25582 жыл бұрын
Phenomenal video . . ..those aerial shots are incredible, those under water shots were incredible +, and the commentary surrounding what bike to use was super interesting (as a runner it’s about shoes and clothing for a race and not doing anything different) and I’m so grateful to have this look inside the lives (training and otherwise) of two of the best triathletes in the world! Paula, in my opinion, you’re not spoiled in the slightest but because you’ve put in so much hard work over the years and turned your gifts/talents into a career I see it as opportunity to choose between comfortable in all areas of riding at race pace and pretty but less comfortable in all areas of riding at race pace. This might sound strange but this video had amazing shots of Flynn, swimming, biking and the part that caught my attention was that a couple weeks out is where peak fatigue hits as you lead into a race and the taper! It’s honest and reminds the viewers that what you’re doing is very hard and it’s not all rosy! Thank you thank you . . . have a dynamite day today and a great week! 🤗😃

We've all been there Paula! 2 lb difference is a lot and comfort is key. It's so hard to get that front end perfect. Specialized will be a lot happier with a win on the TT bike rather than a top 10 on the TRI bike.

9:01 ("oh hey there" 🤣) Love this vid, great to have a TTL back! Paula, it sounds like a tough decision you're grappling with over which bike to use but agree about the importance of feeling comfortable. One thing that struck me about Chelsea Sodaro's bike position at Kona was how (relatively) upright it looked, which I believe was comfort at the expense of some aero...yet she still had the 5th fastest bike split and killed the run. You guys are looking fit and ready to rock!

Paula, didn't think you were grumpy. I felt you were almost apologising for having to make a decision about which bike to ride when many of us don't have sponsors and therefore, fewer choices. Paula is great for sure. Feels like we’re friends already, but girl give either of those bikes 🚲 and my game with increase a lot. Who knows really how much. Kinda crazy but my buddy gave me one time adjustment to where he thought I should be positioned on the bike and it was perfect. I’m pretty I can adapt to any weird setup I’m given. I just practiced and got good at the set up! Not sure how he did it so perfect but I feel great on my bike! I call it the bat 🦇 wing! Although it’s beginner bike and it has WAY WAY to many miles on her! Don’t worry I still ride her!

Friendly facts that Paula may need reminding of to assist with bike choice: Fastest bike: Canadian Open (Shiv TT?) 4th fastest bike (or T3rd IMO, only one sec to Norden): US Open (Shiv TT?). You finished 10th due to your run and Dallas heat struggles, not the bike! Only 2wks out from Worlds, please forget about experimenting, it is not the time. Plenty of months AFTER worlds to tweak/ dial in the Shiv TRI. Best of luck, hope you smash it 🤛

I mean specialized would agree, that the Tri is the faster bike. You also ahve to drink out of the bootle, which cost you another 5Minutes on a IM so maybe 2-3 on a half. This was what they were saying, when someone asked about it to the Aero Specialists at Swissside. LS is also always riding the TT Bike and is loosing time. We all know that aero is more important then weight… so get you Shiv Tri dialed in and do a bikefit and then train on it as yourself was saying, that this is important to get a feel… best of luck and we love your vlogs!
@jmw22242 жыл бұрын
I'm not buying it. These 2 bikes are likely much closer in speed than the manufacturer's claim. Flora Duffy has also switched from the Tri to the TT.
