Some basics of cleaning and lubrication of grandfather and mantle clock mechanisms

The grandfather clock I inherited was totally inoperable when I received it and I cleaned and lubricated the mechanism. Now the clock is working normally for the first time in decades. A mantle clock that I have had most of my life was also properly cleaned and lubricated, and with a minor repair to a set screw is now working for the first time in many years.
