I'm looking to go to CC because I come from an Upper-Middle class family, and have been a good student throughout my high school years. I've completed countless honors and AP classes, graduating with a near 4.0 and am looking to being admitted into top colleges in the country. However again, we are Upper-Middle class, and my parents are refusing to pay much for my college, leaving me with 120k in debt even if I go to state school. So community college, even though it hurts to realize my high school years didn't matter, would be a much more viable option. Then the complicated option comes, which is I can't have myself stay with my parents for another couple years as our relationship is not good whatsoever. But if I can just be resilient and live with my parents for another two years, go to CC, work part time and save up 25k or so, I'll hopefully be able to better afford finishing my college experience at a more prestigious university.
@Mai06733 жыл бұрын
I literally relate so much. Me and my parents don’t get along and idk how I’m gonna move out if I do decide a CC. I got into my dream school and got TWO scholarships from it but it still wasn’t enough. I brought a 48k out of state school down to 25k which is great for an out of state school but that’s still 100k in debt. I’m upper middle class as well and they’re not helping me either. We’re in the home stretch and I’m so stressed about loans I don’t even have yet!!! CC and transfer is looking like the financially safe option.

Mai Yeah man in the end of the day it’s whatever is most financially sound. Update to my post, I’ve gotten into my dream schools however I’m almost 100% sure that I’m gonna go to my state school. I WISH I went to CC out of high school now.. I'm transferring into CC from a state college at the moment because of financial issues but it's the best decision right now. I was not prepared at all for a state school, I did earn credits from a year and a half , but I also learned my major was not for me and am actually excited to explore a new interest at CC and become prepared to transfer into a different school I had no idea I would be interested in. So I believe CC is worth it!
@Tommy-su9tb3 жыл бұрын
Honestly when I was in high school I had that mentality of thinking about creating new friends, partying, etc, and was pretty bummed that I chose to go to CC, even when there was a state school option (only one cause my grades were awful). However, I'm in my second year at CC and at least at my CC, is really good in terms of environment and learning. What I further realized is just the level of maturity and freedom I obtained as I am older, only a year and a half after being 18. I truly appreciate making my own money working, and I feel as if going to CC provides me the ability to live a life I choose to, because theirs a lot of freedom in my opinion with the level of coursework, which is relatively easy, and how much time you have. Now what I really want to do now is such make as much money as possible, save money, and eventually do stuff like traveling, and the thought of constant college partying, etc kind of doesn't excite me as much. But im just speaking on my behalf, not every CC is the same, and many do suck. But what I did obtained is that I'm starting to save so much money from just working and no rent or anything, and when I move out it gives me flexibility with the money that I have.

@leslieruiz69332 жыл бұрын
Hi!! I'm also a senior and I'm in the same position as you, but I think going to a cc if you're undeclared is a good idea because you can take different classes for different majors to see what truly interests you because cc is not as expensive as a four year uni, because if you were to go to a uni, changing majors will cost you THOUSANDS and you'll waste all that time and money for nothing, and with cc you won't waste as much money. And with a gap year...I'm not too sure, we're all different and I'd probably not take it because in that gap year I'd probably start working and then we get so caught up in getting cash flow and then we just forget about school/studying and just set it aside and keep on working. But I hope you make the best decision for yourself! Wishing you the best of luck ^^
