I'm having my first ever session on the wheel tomorrow. 20 years a chef and now I'm looking for something different. I've been a fan of your work for years

Hi from Japan. The 'best of chefs' here have always worked with potters, as the presentation of the food is as important as the food itself! Some chefs actually design their recipes to match the plate or bowl. Best of luck to you.

I started on the wheel in January. It’s one of the better decisions I’ve made lately! I’m a nurse so not a lot of room for creativity in my career. I’ve learned A LOT from Mr. Leach’s KZbin channel , (in addition to what I’ve learned from my instructor). Very informative videos!

I recently started myself.. I love it so much I started a new business for my retirement fund. I still throw slightly wonky pots, but my wife makes them look great with glaze combinations. Good luck

It's wonderful to be able to work and cure our pottery when the weather is warmer. Having to keep a garage heated cuts into the fun and profit

Of course using a kick wheel adds a whole new level of coordination to the whole operation.... thanks for the tips.

40 years ago in a college pottery class all the electric wheels were always occupied, but the lone kick wheel was never used so I learned on that and never went back!! I eventually built myself a hybrid of the Leach Treadle wheel which was the same basic style of frame but without the treadle mechanism, I loved that wheel... I'm currently retired and will probably sell most of my equipment but I will never never sell that wheel!

Very interesting. Now I've thrown pots for 50yrs, learnt in France where I am still. Never really thought about it before, but I don't lift the clay as you do at all, not the same fingers, on the right side between bent indexes, and never had any trouble. However I also realise that through the years I need to touch the clay less and less and use different methods which become minimal without really thinking about it. I'll give anything a try though. It's interesting to see different potter's habits. Have to look closer to other french potters I know.

Occasionally a commercial ad on TV will have a "potter" throwing in a studio and I can instantly tell judging by the hand positions if the person is a real potter or an actor pretending to be a potter... spoiler alert: most of them are pretending!! 🤣 Love your videos! I'm a retired potter but I always like watch a realm working potter who knows what he's doing!!
