I believe that ratatouille was a peasant dish. So poorer people who had vegetables from their garden and just a few ingredients would make it and it was a filling dish.

I think you're right. If you remember the film, Ego has a flashback to when his mother made ratatouille for him, and they are clearly in some kind of farm house or otherwise humble abode. Ratatouille in the film symbolizes being good despite humble origins, and that's what Remy is: good (talented) despite his humble origins as a rat.

The point of the ratatouille in the film was that it was “simple” and “plain” ratatouille where the flavours of the vegetables can be enjoyed and not masked or overpowered.

It is cooked long and slow to bring out the natural sugars. The fact that is a simple dish it is often awful when shortcuts are taken. Many versions do taste like steamed vegtables with a splash of tomato .

Exactly. That is why, when Remy brought out the recipe, Collette was skeptical. She called it a "Peasant Dish" because it is basically inexpensive or leftover ingredients thrown in a pot.

Tim, I love Jenn's voice. I love how clear she is when she talks. Usually when vloggers take their wife, they're not really good at talking at all so it makes the video really boring, but I just love how Jenn talks!! I haven't watched since I was planning the first time taking my kids to Disney. Im widowed with 3 kiddos, so I had to be really careful with planning, money, timing sin e it'll be forever before I can afford it again. Your disneyland one convinced me thats what we wanted to do! We went march 2019, so I had seen a vid about you guys not having kids. I thought to myself, these guys are made to be a mom and dad, I bet the universe just wanted them to have a long time together first. You remind me of my relationship w my husband...we were inseparable. Anyway, so happy for you. Jackson is so cute! And watching these videos makes me want to start a disney fund again...but still makes me feel happy to watch! Thanks for what you do!

I do miss the Festival of the Masters, which this was supposed to replace. That panna cotta rose was gorgeous - too bad it wasn't more "pistachio-y", I LOVE anything pistachio.
