I bought that Patty Waters album in the 10th grade and played it first at a friends house on his parents large living room stereo. His parents were amazingly tolerant. Everything else you showed I would love to have.
@diamond_marimba Жыл бұрын
ha, definitely a risky move with patty. do you still have that copy?
@mistery-ed7900 Жыл бұрын
@@diamond_marimba Yes, with ringwear galore! Those parents liked weird Ed for some reason. The mother always made treats for me cuz I was a skinny kid.

The Music for Zen Meditation album sold a lot in the SF store I worked in. We sold a $hit load in the mid-70s. Never saw that Voodoo Scott record. Very cool Raymond Scot photo. A pair of Scotts you got there!!!

I remember you picked up a raymond comp, RSD maybe?

Nice focused video sir. Patty Waters and the Byard are certainly ones I'm on the look for. Not to mention Orient. Definitely need to stream Facets of the Universe too. Great rundown

the other patty waters is pretty good too, but very different vibe with just her with sparse piano accompaniment
yes I'll do a little room tour before the year is out

Hi Alex! Fascinating stuff. The Byard Lancaster has to be a killer. The only one of these I own is the Patty Waters, which I bought for a quarter sometime in the mid '70s. Still have that copy, now signed by Patty.
@diamond_marimba Жыл бұрын
hey Michael, I think most of the lancaster is on KZbin. did you get the waters signed at her concert?
@michaelpdawson Жыл бұрын
I met Patty Waters at an in store appearance at Streetlight Records in San Francisco in 1993. Unfortunately she was not performing.

I am already checking out the Tony Scott album. Man does it sound great Alex. Thanks for sharing the info on the Cherry. Funny. I have three original BYG's and two of them are the Cherry MU's part one and two~
@diamond_marimba Жыл бұрын
those are two of the essential BYGs I think, what's the other one you have? yes be sure to check out the Tony scott djanger bali that was just reissued.

@@diamond_marimba The other is the the #2 Art Ensemble of Chicago. I was trying to get more of them early on Alex. But they were just too hard to find in VG++ / mint condition~

Alex, I was just listening, on-line, to ''Border Crossing'' by The Mike Osborne Trio with Harry Miller and Louis Moholo from 1974. It seems that people know Miller only because he co-owned the Ogun label with his wife, Hazel and sound engineer Keith Beal, but he was a fantastic composer and bass player. He could play in any context, Township jazz, Free Jazz and Rock, he appeared on a King Crimson album. Harry died young, in a car accident, but left a great legacy.
@diamond_marimba Жыл бұрын
ah of course, I knew I'd heard miller's name somewhere else. I'm not a big fan of the Ogun labels fusion leanings but I'm sure there's some titles I've overlooked.

@@diamond_marimba Alex, you would love the ''Ovary Lodge'' album on Ogun with Keith Tippett, Julie Tippetts, Harry Miller and Frank Perry.

@@diamond_marimba Alex, do your research, if I recall correctly, the original pressing was noisey, the reissue might sound better, my cd reissue sounds great and includes more music.
