With all the doom and gloom around these days it's nice focus on the good things in Spain. I have to say that I love the weather. I know it's not always hot and sunny but it is far more so than the U.K and other countries in northern Europe. It's also a great deal more predictable. In Britain you don't know whether to wear a pair of shorts or a raincoat in the summer. The weather in Spain really encourages the outdoor life and just makes people far happier. I also love the magnificent landscape of Spain. Some of my fondest experiences in Spain are travelling by car across large stretches of amazing wild countryside the length and breadth of the country. Finally, Spain is rich with historical monuments. The majority of which are hardly known outside the country and every autonomous region has them. (The food and drink is, of course, fantastic and fantastic value.)

I would like to add a more important point which is caring and respecting their elderly better than other northern European countries in my opinion. Hi Stuart! Canadian student here, currently working on my Master's degree at SOAS in London. I am a certified TESOL/TEFL teacher as well, and was actually studying last year in Newcastle (NSW), so "How ya goin', mate?" - Was just looking for some advice today. I am planning to move to Spain after graduation. I have been watching your videos for several months now and find them very helpful. I am not planning to work in Spain, but work for a United Nations organization abroad, and come back to Spain as my "home base" between contracts. I am looking to purchase a modest villa somewhere on the coast and I would like to be in a cosmopolitan/multicultural area (perhaps near/between Barcelona and Valencia) where there is is nearly year-round warm weather and affordable living. Improving my Spanish is something I am looking forward to, so this is not an issue for me - but I would like to be in an area where people DO speak passable English - so hopefully close to a more populated area. Just wondering what your suggestions would be as far as cities/areas/regions to look at. Keep up the good work with your videos and I hope to hear back from you soon! Cheers, David
@harec6665 жыл бұрын
Considering the coast, Valencia was a surprisingly cosmopolitan city(I am from Madrid), plus it has great weather and beach. The only thing was you have to find a place right in the center of the city. Alicante for example is not that cosmopolitan. I am not so sure about Barcelona. People in Cataluña are a bit xenophobic, although that's a minority it can be a pain for people that just want to learn Spanish. If you want to learn Spanish an Catalonian then you should have no problem.

Try going to a top notch restaurant and ask even for the simple menu del día at a cost of €12- 13 ti in London. It'll never happen. I have visited Spain 3-4 times over the decades...but always had a real challenge with the food. I love the Mediterranean region more than any other....but as a long-time, 100% plant based (vegan) since 1976...it seems almost impossible to find a good variety of cruelty-free cuisine. The Spanish food scene is obsessed with meat consumption... Unlike places such as Greece (especially Crete) and of course Israel where the array of amazing vegan foods is now completely part of the local psyche and food culture. Add to that, the very ugly tradition of bullfighting, torturing bulls at festivals, the routine culling of thousands of discarded hunting dogs each year, and a general lack of animal welfare rights, etc., Spain now has a bad reputation and become a no-go country for many folks. Throwing thousands of unwanted hunting dogs down wells, off cliffs, to die...or hanging them, etc, after the season, does not exactly create a nice, positive, caring, international image of this country. It’s a shame really, that Spanish society has not fully evolved away from that inherent, brutal, barbaric, mindset. Just keeping it real. 😎🇮🇱🌴👍⛱☀️

dirk diggler You don’t care about animal cruelty, abuse, and their horrendous suffering? A lack of empathy towards other living beings is classified as psychopathy 😲 I think that says a lot more about YOU as an individual than it does people who adhere to a plant based lifestyle. Just keeping it real. 😎🌴🇮🇱👍⛱☀️

Oleg koi Humans are indeed the monster Nazis...from an animal perspective. One day, everyone will look back at this primitive, narcissistic, era in our history with utter astonishment. We treat our own species in a horrible manner and the animal kingdom even worse. Certainly nothing to be proud of 🤮

@@kevztunes since you are so knowledgeable about animal perspective, I guess you are one of them. Cheer up, beast, and look at the bright side, -- at least you are not a monster.
