This song always hits me not matter how many times I hear it. Because the media and our politicians push this racial divide. Most of what Tom says in this track I have been saying for years. I just glad someone put it out there. I think a lot of what comes from the tension between whites and blacks is that a lot of us are disconnected from the culture, both ways, or completely ignorant and refuse to see the other side. The latter being your racist people regardless of creed or color. Racism isn't a color, it's a mindset. We all bleed the same, Martin Luther King or Kennedy.

If anyone considers themselves relatively intelligent and having a grasp on the english language, there's absolutely no reason to hate on this message, topic or the possible conversations that This has brought up. Though many did. Transparecy , equal appreciation, open perspective and accountability is key to moving forward and elevating us as a people. It takes many different pillars and angles to raise a true"temple of humanity". Not just a few columns. TOM and NOVA are Truth. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your thoughts as always. The reason I love Tom's music isn't because of the satire which can be funny at times or the "triggering" topics which seeing people foam at the mouth for no reason is always entertaining, I love his music because it's always food for thought. I’m white, I don’t eat cheese sandwiches LOL. One of my favorite experiences with one of my black friends- my friend Roscoe and I are working in the back of Roy Rogers. We’re standing there eating fried chicken and watermelon. He looks at me and smiles, he says I don’t care what they say about me, I like my watermelon and I like my chicken. I looked at him and smiled and said well I must be half black then because I like my watermelon and I like my chicken too :-). Culture has more to do with divisions skin color my my opinion. I didn’t understand why people would be so offended by this song either I feel the people that are offended don’t want to hear the message. I mean like you said our generation grew up with comedians all making fun and jokes about other races and there own race and we all laughed. If the younger generation heard that stuff now a whole bunch of great comedians would be cancelled 🙄😂 the sensitivity of today’s climate is why comedy is starting to slowly die. Great reaction! Also I was born in Louisville Kentucky but raised pretty much everywhere stayed the longest in Charlotte NC so that’s home. I used to go to Louisville every year though for the big firework and air show.

DUDE that fried chicken comment had me in stitches! The whole video was entertaining but that comment was so dope. I'm as white as the work day is long, and I swear on all that is holy, fried chicken is one of the greatest things on this planet! My favorite food bar-none! When you mentioned the hennisey and then admitted you fk with that, too, I chuckled big time. Reminded me of an conversation I had a work several years ago, there was this young lady from Mexico who was so adorable and we were talking about cultural foods, and she mentioned she doesn't like avocado/guacamole, which I said something about how that is so surprising. Our black coworker (female) tried to shame me and say "not every Mexican likes the same food, that's like saying all black people like BBQ" And i said, "Oh, you don't like BBQ????" and she look me straight up and said, "I fkn LOVE BBQ" and we all cracked up laughing. Like you said, boss, the cultural differences are there - they're only a big deal cuz people make a big deal out of them. I've been saying for years we are all one race and we have so much in common regardless, but we are still different in many ways. We need to learn to celebrate the differences and enjoy them instead of hate on them and use it to divide us.

We want you to pause and talk and then back it up to hear it again. To me, every pause is proof that we’re not as different as the politicians and media want us to believe. Even tho the video was staged that why, it's annoying cause people were seriously not listening.. He got the most hate for this video out of all of them, so he came out with "This House" to silence those people and it was hard it worked. In my opinion. for the most part... There will always be that one person ya know? lol
@richardwright35233 жыл бұрын
It was only staged in the fact that ,he asked them to play along . But that was after he played them the song and discussed the meaning with them, from what I saw I believe the people involved where fluffy aware of the context and played their part to make sure a conversation was had by the end product. Bless them for that, because these reviews and comments keep the conversation going.
