Newer condo's, apartments and Borey's all seem to have names along with addresses now for an easy way to find them, but like you said still no Postal service to them except by an express service company. Out in my wife's commune they have no address and you can only get a package if you go to the express office in the city to pick it up when you know its coming.

Nice walk and talk Dave. My old neighborhood back in 2017. Totally agree with your list of changes and don’t changes. I got used to the bum gun in Chiang Mai, Thailand. And was happy to have it again in Siem Reap. So when I returned to Canada….I really missed it…as you said. Went online on eBay and looked at various models and ordered one. I installed it myself. It wasn’t too difficult to do. And…it has a pressure adjustment valve where it fastens to the water inlet for the toilet. My apartment in the building here close to Niagara Falls is probably the only one with a bum gun handheld bidet. But also in Cambodia, staying at a friend’s place out in the village for a few days…I got used to using a squat toilet and a water ladle. Take care…and many thanks. Namo Buddhaya, 🙏🏼 ☸️ 😃 🌴 🌴 🌴🇰🇭 🇹🇭 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

The KOW has come a long way since its horrific violence past but there is always room for improvement no matter what. Happy autumn from Minnesnowta. Peace 🍁✌️

Not Naming all the Roads ..and not allocating property numbers is a little hard to understand .. 😂 I intend to place a large number and a Fictitious st name on our wall so it kind of helps locating the property

I checked with Amazon, and they do deliver there. To order anything from anywhere you must have some sort of address. What address can you use?
@DaveDoesCambodia2 ай бұрын
@@coachslevens The post office. Yes, you can get packages from Amazon but the shipping costs are ridiculous. And if you use the post office, your local phone number must be on the package. They will call you once your mail arrives. Otherwise, you won't know when it gets here.

I have always received regular postal service items delivered to my door in Phnom Penh. For large items I receive a parcel collection card. All very normal. I drink the tap water. Drainage works fine. You'll be surprised how quickly things will improve if you are living somewhere marginal if you just wait a bit...or move. An English advisory service? If you need to know you will be told. Don't sweat it.

The lack of street signs makes navigation tough. I arrived in Siem Reap mid-September, and figuring out where I need to go is a challenge.

A modern postal Service. LFG Cambodia! Going Postal is Going Global!!!! Its not a small issue. A modern mail system without petty pilfering would open Khmer ppl up to being able to compete in global export markets. Something they are currentlt unable to achieve. Addding considerable $ to GDP

How safe and hygienic is street food
@bushputz3 ай бұрын
I've only been here about 3 weeks, and I've been eating street food almost exclusively. No problems so far. Tap water, on the other hand is another matter. The tap water in my apartment is fine, because it comes from the government, but if I'm away from home, it's bottled water or nothing.

@@bushputz I lived in Cambodia several years over the past couple decades, I would not drink the tap water after watching how they repair the water mains when they break. I am a water and sewer contractor, so I watch these things and see how they differ from the US. If you saw what I saw you wouldn't drink the water either. I LOVE Cambodia, but the water quality is questionable. Boiling the water like Dave says is the only way I would drink it.

I would like to see a three digit emergency phone line system in place. It seems like the numeral 8 is popular here, so 888 as the emergency dispatch call center. It could make tourists feel more comfortable, too. Cool video!

Hey Dave, I've been looking for that video where you mentioned the agency you used to get your visa extension, could you post a link somewhere please ? Thanks a bunch 👍

I'll be in Siem Reap on November 3rd. Looking for affordable retirement options. Cambidia is a diamond in the rough for entrepreneurs. I could see a business renting an office with a legit address, and offering mail services, especially for expats...such as a virtual mailbox, and mail delivery services. I'm interested in looking into this as a potentially business opportunity. I currently have a virtual mailbox in the United States. This gives me the opportunity to view mail online, have mail thrown away, or shredded, and forward to me internationally.

Why don’t you make a proof of concept website about the Government policy changes? Since you are a writer and you know English , why don’t you do it ? Then you can present this idea and actual “product” to the relevant parties. And maybe even get yourself a new line of work and income source ! : ) 💰
