Another classic by Chris Isaak. An artist who is loved by many but has not received the acclaim he is due, IMHO.

Just to show u what a cool guy he is. Caught hit in a concert years ago. He was on stage singing and all the young girls were close dancing. So l told my wife to go up and get crazy, she was shy and refused. So at this point Chris comes off stage singing on the audience. On be knowest to my wife l point over my wife's head without her knowing so Chris acts like he doesn't see me, but the next he sneaks i behind the wife and starts singing to her guitar in hand. Talk about a deer in the headlights. Total class and dude did not miss a beat. Also for those who like Chris's check out the showtime Chris's Isaac show

Full disclosure. I went through a very difficult separation (and ultimately a divorce) around the time this song was popular. My wife had cheated on me, and for obvious reasons I listened to this song over and over during that time. This song still resonates with me to this day. My ex-wife and I have both moved on and had wonderful lives, but this song (as beautiful as it is) is still a haunting reminder of that sad period in my life. And as painful as that time was, I still love this song. And I think I always will.

Summer of '95. Had me a fiancee who thought we needed a break. She actually left to do a peace corp type gig. I was devoted, she treated me like crap, so I backed out with class and dated other people as she wished. She decided that she wanted to get married after all and I agreed, but she had created distrust and a girl I'd been dating told me I could do better, I left the toxic fiancée and married my friend. Still with my friend 24 years later and 2 beautiful daughters. This song was released during that period in my life. It's sad story made me stronger.

Chris Isaak authored “Somebody’s Crying” (1995) after splitting from a girlfriend. He missed her desperately but felt that he had to keep his heartbreak silent. The American singer-songwriter recalled : “If you were looking at my life at the time, it looked like everything was okay. That I was having a good time. But in actuality, I was missing her more than ever. I like the first lines of the song : ‘I know somebody and they cry for you / They lie awake at night and dream of you / I bet you never even know they do, but / Somebody’s crying.’ Not only are you saying that this is happening, but it’s kind of in a secret way. IT’S LIKE A LITTLE KID’S WAY OF SAYING THINGS. MOST OF US ARE AS TERRIFIED OF LOVE AS LITTLE KIDS ARE TERRIFIED OF THE WORLD. Little kids come up to you and say, ‘I know someone who loves you’ or ‘I know someone who likes you.’ They say it like, I’m not going to really come out and say it. And for adults, it’s probably the same way. They never really get beyond that fear.” Isaak revealed that he composed this piece while LOCKED AWAY IN A CLOSET : “I had just broken up with someone and hadn’t been out of the house much. A friend of mine was having a party and as soon as I arrived, I realized I didn’t want to be there. The house had this big walk-in closet in the hallway, so I went in, shut the door, and sat down underneath the coats. There was a guitar leaning against the wall in the back. I started tuning it up and wrote ‘Somebody’s Crying.’” 💔🎶💔
