I just wish it was an original game rather than focusing on rehashing older zone... that and Amy Rose was playable. I also wish the game wasn't trying to be the Saturn Sonic game that never was, but I suppose graphics mean dick-all long as the game's fun to play so hopefully it will be. Hopefully if the game's a smash hit, it'll either get a sequel or some real DLC, character packs would be well worth the money.

Guypersonmanthing3 No, I was born in 1984, I'm just sick and tired of the nostalgia retro crap you see in a lot of 2D video games. Mega Man 9/10, Shovel Knight, VVVVVV, Undertale... It just looks lazy and it's really overdone. Like at least Skullgirls and Cuphead are trying traditional animation. Like, that's what I've been hyped to see forever now, a video game with fluid animation that pushes the limit... instead we just got 3D animation... Which I guess is fine, but I just would like to see a traditionally animated game with effort. At least there's Sonic 2 HD... and I guess Rayman, that's a sweet lookin' game. Though yeah, personal preference and just sick of seeing graphics trying to take you back to the '80s-'90s. Like if I wanted to see old-school graphics I'd just play the old games. SEGA's a big company, they could put some effort into presentation. Aunno the game could be fun, but I'm not expecting something as great as Sonic 3 or 2... or Advance... Maybe something as good as Sonic 42 or Sonic CD or something.

If Dimps had used something from the ground up or actually dug up the Advance engine instead of an early form of the Colours DS engine and had incorperated level design combining Sonic 3's and Advance's (minus the overabundance of bottomless pits, basically the start of the game's level design), it would have been much better.

This game was kinda fun for me actually. With all the negative things I've heard about it, I thought it wouldn't be that fun (a similar scenario took place with Unleashed). But if you look past the originality, it actually is actually almost as good as the classics. In fact imo, there are a few things things this does _better_ than the classic games, like the co-op as Johnny mentioned. I do wish it was longer, and maybe give a little extra for 100%ing it. And yes, that Metal Sonic statue is awesome.

I want them to port all three as an actual cartridge game for 3DS, but change the physics so that it works better and so that the games feel more streamlined and maybe add Tails to ep. 1. (Again, for streamlining. They don't even have to give you the option to select a separate episode, just put all 10 levels in 1. And maybe expand Metal Sonic's mode, giving him unique physics, allowing him to access all 10 levels, and make it harder than the original levels to offer challenge to those like Johnny, who obvs was left a bit unsatisfied with the difficulty here)

Sonic 4 as a whole was very disappointing. The level design in my opinion wasn't enjoyable, because it feels like every level plays itself, and THE CONSTANT BUBBLES CHAINS! They could've done so much more with the story, ending on a very small and empty note, not to mention that they did nothing with the Ancient purple energy they added. Episode Metal is the most rehash I've ever seen in any video game. Oi, looking back, Shattered Crystal is more exciting than this.

You know, it occurs to me that the special stages might have a reason for being repetitive. The Episode 1 special stages were a variation on the ones in Sonic 1, and Episode 2 special stages are a variation of the halfpipe introduced in Sonic 2. Maybe Blue Sphere will be back if Episode 3 is ever made?

You know what really would have been nice? If Episode 3 & 4 came out, make the 4th one the last, and it should include the ability to lock-on to play EVERY SINGLE LEVEL AS THE CERTAIN CHARACTERS! And also have the ability to switch between the Classic and the Modern character designs.

I find Sonic 4's soundtrack in general to be a bit… off? They try to make it sound "Genesis" but add too much of the "twang" that the classic Sonic games lacked, especially in Episode II. They should've tried to limit the music to what an actual Genesis can handle, and them throw the same style of remixing they used for the Classic stages in the HD version of _Sonic Generations_ into it. And also, I definitely would rather see a _Sonic the Hedgehog 5_ rather than a _Sonic 4: Episode III_. Better yet, why not a 2-D series that isn't a direct continuation of where Sonic 4 or the classic games left off? _Sonic Advance_ has a following, you know!
