i have a Nvidia Shield TV but i have heard that there are compatibility issues with air/gyro controls. i am looking for a remote that has a air/gyro mouse as well as a QWERTY keyboard. Do you know if the Minix A2 Lite will work?

can you calibrate the mini X to work in any direction as long as you calibrate? Like pointed to the left and flip it over and calibrated and it will work from there?

I have a remote that always defaults to turning on Air Mouse on the first key press - so I have to turn off Air Mouse before doing anything every time. Do any of the remotes you reviewed allow for changing default on Air Mouse to OFF? Thanks!

+David Šigut There are a couple but none of them really work very well. On the other hand the remotes that come with Android TV and Amazon fire tv have voice search which works really well. I think some better voice remotes are coming in 2016 though.

I have many of those remotes. My own favorite is the *M1*, mainly because it is so small and lightweight. The only thing I *don't* like is that a long press on the Home/Return key does *not* take me out of an app (e.g., Kodi or a browser) to the Minix home screen. For that - and for typing - I reach for my A2 Lite (which I prefer over the clunkier Rii, albeit an earlier version than yours).

Don Grimme I'm with you. I like the small remotes. A lot of time I'm watching the show from bed and I want to be able to use the remote one handed and by feel so the small remotes work best for that.

Joe G.P. That is the Mele F10 . Mine seems to be defective and it would not work form more than about 6 ft away so I left it off. Its supposed to be pretty good though. I've heard lots of good things about it.

Nice video, I would have thought more people would have done a video about the android remotes. As for myself I'm not an extreme enthusiast, but when I looked for one awhile ago, I wanted it as a remote and keyboard. I bought an iRainy from Amazon. It is very close to the Minix A2 lite. Difference being a little smaller and USB charged batter, and the keyboard is arranged a little non-standard. It has served me quite well. It is almost good for Windows, but it lacks the ability to reach the task manager which is a MUST. If one of these remotes could light up the buttons, it would be a nice option, even though it would hurt the price/efficiency.

I have a question about the Rii mini i28 - how can I know if my TVbox has the driver for it to be used as a game pad? And another thing, I saw you have there the Mele f10 pro. I know it can be used as a 6-axis game pad, but I think it can be used that way only on a Mele TVbox. Do you know if there is a way to use this as such on other devices? There are other remotes like that Mele, like the Mele f10 Deluxe, Measy GP830 or the Minix Neo A2. Sefy Friedman Hey Sefy, I haven't had good luck with the audio in on remotes working consistently. Gaming is hit and miss too. Id say don't cound on the audio working very well unless you buy an android TV box like The shield console or Fire TV. As for the game controller I like a dedicated controller. The Amazon fire TV controller works really well for me right now. It runs on bluetooth an is a pretty good price. amzn.to/1LBAVoi

Christian Silva I was going to review it but I tested it and it would only work from about 6th away. I think mine is defective because I've heard lots of good things about it and I think the remote+ uses the same guts as the F10 too. Mele said they would send me one but I don't think its coming anymore.

Great video, Rivers! I end up with a MESS of remotes on my sofa now! Just because each one is better in 1-2 things...I just cant find the sweetspot for a remote to be good in all fields: 1. I have the Remote+ by PROBOX [good for air mouse+voice+long battery life] 2. The bundled MINIX M1 remote [it has a PLAY/PAUSE button which the Remote+ doesnt have and its So important if you wanna pause a video/song etc..]. 3. LENOVO N5902 - [used for my PC at first, its good as a keyboard but sucks as a mouse]. Ahhh...this is driving me crazy, man! Such a clutter of remotes. I wish there was a remote with: Mic [for voice search] + Keyboard + Play/Pause // Back/Next track buttons + Air mouse + Uses AA/AAA batteries. The MINIX A2 Lite should be the closest to fulfill all those needs but I've heard the battery life is horrible! You need to charge it every day. Its pointless, if so. Remotes need to be good for a few weeks before charge..

If your android media player supports Bluetooth, the Amazon Fire TV Stick remote is worth taking a look at. Very responsive, simple layout, small, relatively inexpensive, does everything that you need within Kodi. Just hold the home button for about 5 seconds and sync the remote with your unit like you would any other Bluetooth device.

*Rii mini i28's cons* Dial d-pad. You have to press exactly where the icon is on the dials with needle thumbs or you'll push two keys. Unusable. *MeLE F10 Pro cons* Air mouse works fine but the keyboard lets it down the most. Rubber keys often get stuck. Unusable. So many poorly made devices. However, both updated versions look like they have improved.

wewyllenium The buttons are rubber and nice and clicky. A dedicated controller works better but I really like the handling on the Rii for the UI and apps.

I think a wireless mouse is much better than a remote. I found it much easier to navigate!

cgouais I agree. When I'm setting up a new AMP I just hook up a mouse and fly like the wind. I have a had time using a mouse when the player is attached to the TV though. For me it's hard to find a flat surface to use the mouse on so I use both depending on the situation.
