Thanks for the video. I'm a bit disappointed minix doesn't build the upgrade directly into the box itself. It seems like a number of hoops the user has to jump through which can be especially daunting if the user isn't technical.

Yes if you are rooted you can backup everything. I use Ultimate Backup Pro to back up all my apps and settings. I then copy the backup folder to my sd card. When I install a new ROM i just install Ultimate Backup Pro from the app store then copy the folder back and choose restore.. There's also Titanium backup and helium but I haven't used the full versions of them.

It could be that your wifi and ethernet are both turned on at the same time . Other than that try updating the firmware. Finless 1.5a is out now.

For some reason the box doesn't turn green. I hear my computer ding when I start the device with the rest button pressed. Few moments later it dings out as if it was unplugged and the device is no longer listed in the device manager. During the time the device is "seen" by the computer the tool doesn't seem to recognize it and shows NO green boxes. Could you please tell me what I might be doing wrong ?

Hey Leon larkin, i figured how to do it. First you have to connect it to a usb 2 port. There is a compatibility issue with usb3. Second when you are booting in recovery you push the reset button with a pin, press the power button and then count 3 seconds the you release the pin. Before that you have to make sure drivers are installed and it should work.

I have had mine for a couple of days. For me - WiFi is awful - worst ever on any device I have. My Nexus 7 / Galasy S3 have no issues but the X7 is a real problem. Other says the same. Its early days so hopefully Minix will fix the issues. Cheers :)

Rivers, I bought the NEO X7 and had it shipped out here to Afghanistan while deployed and am trying to setup the Quickshot ROM. I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to get my Win8.1 PC to recognize the Minix. I have been looking through tutorials galore. Nothing is working. Even tried rebooting on advanced settings to enable unsigned drivers. I my PC tells me is the device has malfunctioned. Can you post a Tutorial on Win8.1 how to get this to work assuming it is even possible.

Nevermind i figured it out... In device manager i tried to update universal serial bus but should have seen the "unknown device" further up the list. By the way i updated with a pre-rooted 008 firmware, gonna test it now.

I had no problem updating firmware to 008 or 009 -- BUT Trying to install Finless 1.8 or Quickshot v2 and get the following when using then flash tool that came with the custom rom When I flash ROM, every thing runs good until INF0: start test device. Hi, I managed to install Minix release 0822, version 004 and it solved the spif problem perfectly and it seems to work great. The only problem I have is that I can't manage to run the superSU (or any super user application). It says that the SU binary needs to be updated and fails when trying to update it. I didn't manage to find anything about it. Can you PLEASE advice? thanks

I connected my Neo X7 to the laptop and started it into flash mode. "Unknown device" in the Device Manager at laptop. I installed the driver on my laptop of Win7 - 64 by by updating and browsing for the driver in the folder. Driver successfully installed and correctly showed in the Device Manager. I restarted the computer and then I put again Neo X7 into the flash mode and USB icon shows in the right side of the task bar. When I launch Rockchip utility, there is no green square. No conection between Neo and laptop. Where I'm mistaken? I checked once again your remarks and I'm sure that I was in the Flash Mode.:( In fact I repated the procedure after I uninstalled the driver. Any suggestion is welcomed. Thank you!

WARNING TO WINDOWS 8 USERS: even if you installed the latest minix drivers and the pc connects to minix windows 8 cannot find Minix in recovery mode! Using windows 7 works perfectly so simply do the procedure from a non win8 pc.

...thanks for the feedback: i don't know what happened in my win8 system, i did the same exact procedure even with a clean driver install (in my win7 machine i had samsung driver that overlapped the minix drivers, i had to disinstall them first)but worked only on the win7 machine.

Hi, I had the same issue a few weeks ago, the SD card is not the external one but part of the internal memory of the device. try entering the settings and re- install the SD card. It worked for me.

To enter flash mode on the x7 mini, Plug in the USB cable first into the port farthest form the SD card slot. Then press and hold the reset button on the bottom with a paper clip. Then insert the power cable. Release the reset button after about 4 seconds.
