It would be nice to see a Metro 1.4 8v on the dyno just to see how it compares to the Saxo furio. I had a 1.4gta in the 90's and it really seemed to punch above its weight for a 75bhp 8v engine. I expect the Gti would have been loads of fun though!

Interesting results. Given how it seems prone to being a tad toasty, I think I would look into getting a heat exchanger installed and a larger radiator. Those restrictor pipes look so frustrating. If I had one, I'd feel compelled to replace it. Probably wrongly, but... yeah.
@steve.91382 ай бұрын
This is a Euro 2 car, the Euro 3 cars that were a couple of years newer had the larger radiator as standard, it is an upgrade I've been looking at.

Yeah! I have a xsara vtr with the same engine, good to know it has more power xD. The xsara has a stock oil temperature gauge, when it is above 100º C I feel the car much more sluggish. Especially if I have just been sitting in traffic, the oil goes just above 100º C and joining a roundabout can be scary from the lower acceleration than normal xD
@jfv652 ай бұрын
Unlikely. 100C is nothing. I used to do rally service. Cars came back from the stages with oil at 180C. No joke. And no problem either. A HOT engine will start to consume a bit more oil tho. When the oil is hot the engine gas LESS pumping losses. Same for diff and gbox oil.
@gl_coimbra2 ай бұрын
@@jfv65 yes, in the motorway on a hot day I will get like 130º C, it´s just when sitting in traffic above 110º C that temperature that it gets sluggish

probably due to intake temps rising from sitting in traffic

I am a French car fan. Lot of slaters and haters but I am 66 and had a lot of cars. Japanese, british leyland Ford, Vw, audi, vauxhall, Fiat, Renault and PSA. Without doubt my most loyal and favourite driving cars have been French. Flimsy feeling -yes but all have been very reliable and long living. I am a banger driver so cheap and economical are my preferences. If they still made 2cv or renault 4 or 6 would buy one in a heartbeat. My current steed a mk1 berlingo which has a ride like a limo. 1.6 petrol 110 bhp( allegedly😂)

I own a 250.000 mile 106 1.4 sport. I noticed on this video that the Saxo has a different ECU compared to my Peugeot, so there could be a horsepower differential between a Peugeot and the Citroen

Also, catchphrases -- I don't understand how they work, but old farts like me can still crack up if someone aptly introduces into the conversation "You can't get the wood, you know" or "We'll all be murdered in our beds." So, you know, like, don't panic.
