Exactly...i was coming to say something similar. One solo miner got very very lucky and hit a block but there are tens of thousands of people that never have and never will hit a block. Nobody is posting all the losers. 10 TH/s odds are 1 in 192,614.6 per day. 500 GH/s odds are 1 in 3,912,291 per day. To put that into perspective 192,614 days is 527 years and 3,912,291 is 10,718 years. This roughly how long it should take to hit a block at each hashrate, obviously it could be significantly shorter then that or it could be 10X longer.

Yeah the thing is that by offering PPS you have to take charge of the losses = paying the miners even tho no blocks are found... finding a block could be profitable but you neeed a good quantity of miners so it becames really profitable, if not, you are in the red as a mining pool owner :/

Simplified: some guy bought a lottery ticket entry that generates 0 to no income on most days but on this one day he got really lucky and won so now you should go do the same because he made 2 or 3 years worth of income in one second. But disregard the fact that he has to pay the people who sold him the ticket a cut of the money as a fee for owning the ticket they already sold you

Why not run old miners as a way to generate heat. 100% of the electricity they use gets converted into heat, even if you’re not mining profitably over electricity costs it doesn’t matter because you’re still saving on or possibly eliminating your heating bill.

Not hard. Assume 65 Watts 24/7 with 8 hours of sun a day (ok that’s Phoenix weather so 6 for everyone else). 200 watts of solar means you’ll get 120 to 150 watts so during the day that’s 55-95 watts into your battery. The other 16 hours at 65W is 1040W and a LiFeP04 12V 100Ah battery is 1280wh so you’ll be cutting it close but one will do or just buy 120Ah or 150Ah. Or use lithium ion 18650’s 3S 40-50P with ~2600mah modem cells from Battery Hookup (they have auctions too) Panels:$200 new/$100 used Charge controller: $30 PWM/$100 MPPT (more efficient) PV Wire:$40 12.8V/12.6V 100Ah battery DIY: $200 with Lithium Ion using 130 18650’s DIY: $250 with LiFeP04 cells (32700 or prismatic) Commercial: $300 el cheapo, $400 high quality 12V to 5V converter or a way to power this: as cheap as $12 if you use some 4 channel USB boards off Aliexpress. Don’t get an AC inverter it will be inefficient. Cheap route $382

This is how this works, you mine until a block eruption occurs and when the block are emitted they are divided. That's why you use pools because it happens it very long intervals between block eruptions that's why pools tag team so they occure more frequent and you get a more constant payout

cost here would be a tiny fraction of these profits. But hitting a block as a solo miner is extremely unlikely. When the market is not great, you actually lose money slightly mining most coins. But the idea is, the coins appreciate in a bull market, and more than makeup for your cost. Mining increasingly becomes less feasible for solo miners as the industry grows. There are still some paths to profitability for the little guy. But the little guy is much better off investing than mining.

None of them are 100% ready to go you have to input your wallet info and what pool you want to mine at or know how to setup a node to solo mine on your own but its really not hard once you figure those out tuning is what sucks getting the most hash for watts
