Those aren't bedrooms. They're dead end hallways. The entire space needs to be stripped down to its load bearing walls and redesigned as a studio. There's nothing salvageable in the current layout.

Exactly! 1. It also looks like the kitchen had probably been part of a bathroom at one point; 2. the bathroom was probably a closet before the fixtures were put in; 3. the bedrooms were probably one room; 4. the lofts were probably one loft but with a ladder or small stairway to reach and enter it. 5. the refridgerator area was just an entrance area. All in all: other than the neighborhood, NOT worth it. AND ALSO: if there is a blizzard, or a large noreaster, how is the renter going to stand living there? That's a probably a place for cabin fever/stir craziness! (Excuse the candor folks!)

This apartment gives new meaning to basic. I can't imagine two people sharing it, but I'm sure it happens. It's for people who will sacrifice about everything to live in this neighborhood, just a place to sleep, not to live. For $1,400 apiece, there are better places just a subway stop away.

Cash, I don’t think you identified which bedroom was the "primary" bedroom! And the words "fire code" come to mind in that kitchen…
@youyong283 жыл бұрын
This apartment points out that you can take just about any reasonably sized space, throw up a couple of walls, and call it a two bedroom. There is no living area to speak of, no place to lounge with friends or sit down to eat a meal. The view out the window is nice, which is good since there's not much else you can do in that apartment. If all the walls were taken down and the kitchen area rearranged, it might make a decent studio. It's important when apartment hunting to look not only at the number of bedrooms but also at the square footage. If you plan to be out in that terrific neighborhood and home only to sleep, then this apartment might be worth it. If two people are sharing that space, it would be best if one person were out most of the day. Roommates could get tired of each other really fast.

Keep in mind that rents and real estate are driven by demand. Both reflect the need to support housing based on business demands. Also know that many commute by train from neighboring cities. I’ve stayed with friends and remarkably, their hour commute took less time than my friends in San Jose. My point is if it was unreasonable there would be less demand. I’m with you, I love visiting, but loath the thought of living there. What amazes me is that people spend thousands in rent, and build no equity. With what we see as 'acceptable' living standards in NYC, I simply don't have any faith that those who rented at more reasonable prices won't be faced with either have a massive rent increase when it comes time to renew or face being chucked out and into a market many probably can't afford.
