Hello there! First of all, we would like to thank Bluedrake for making this video, we're always very grateful whenever anyone spreads a good word about us. The support is what gives us the drive to keep on going. We have been working on the project in our free time for a while and we're not planning to stop anytime soon. ^^ That being said, we'd like to clarify some things because there seems to be a misunderstanding which Bluedrake has addressed in the video. We're not really re-making any of the old Jedi Knight games, nor are we making a new Jedi Knight game. I think a better way to describe it is that Vertex aims to be a "spiritual successor". Although you will still be able to play with Star Wars mods, the game itself will not be provided with any protected content. The lightsaber and the "Bespin" map were custom-made and added to one of the public versions to show off what you could achieve with just modding the game. In other words, we're planning to make the game heavily moddable, to a point where modders will be able to make Vertex look like an entirely different game. It's not possible to mod Vertex yet, but we're surely getting there :) What you saw in the video is a build from 4 months ago (yes the updates are slow, but shh they'll be faster as we get more support and free time :P). If you'd like to see how the more recent version looks, we have a new video on our channel which shows some of the upcoming (though unfinished) features. The newest update will definitely be released this month, and we'd love to have you try it out with us! @@CVDO93 Hey. As explained above, in Vertex, we're not using any assets belonging to Disney, nor are we trying to infringe their rights or steal from them in any way, shape or form. We essentially want Vertex to be like what Street Fighter is to Tekken. Same genre, but totally different games.

Hi! Yes, that is the exact plan! We are coming up with our own background, lore and the world's design. The modders will, however, be able to make conversion mods. The sword combat will be very close to what everyone knows from Jedi Knight, but we are experimenting with different improvements to it at the same time, all in response to the players' feedback. :)

They should release the game as a Open Source Project. Non Commericial. Put it up on Github and Moderate Merge Request. Just let the community maintain and update the game. Make money off of Donations. Disney can't do shit.

@@anthonygordon9483 You guys have no idea how copyright and trademark work. Releasing something protected for free is often worse than than charging for it. If your charging for it, it limits who will buy it. If it's free there is no reason to buy the original game anymore. Plus, if its charged for, there is an exact number on lost revenue. So yeah, this is a complete infringement.

Spent my entire childhood on ffa_bespin. The duels on the landing pad, the ffs&pps in the lower streets. the chilling and just talking up on the rooftops and the running away from lamers across the bridges. Absolutely love jedi knight 2 to death, I grew up with it and will always be special to me. I still log in every now and then and see some old faces from back in the day and made some great friends there Too bad this project seems to be based on 1.04 and not 1.02a (the best version obviously) Other than that, looks great

I've been missing that game. In my oppinion it was the best star wars game. I loved multiplayer. A lot of mods. Capture the flag, servers with duels only and laws like no force using. I remember clans and each has website and we made clan wars with rating. If you were good duelist people remembered you and pay to you respect. That was awesome time in my gamming "carrer".

Love this, just would love if they reworked the character physics/ movement. Not to be too nitpicky but the movement seems stiff and robotic,and might feel great to have more impact with the lightsaber idk I'm nitpicking dammit. This is awesome. Not trying to take that away from it

Hello o/ We're aware the combat looks a little stiff at times. The reason for that is the current lack of a decent animator on the team, so all the animations were done by a programmer. With continuous player support we will eventually be able to make that aspect look and feel a lot better. The game is far from finished! :)

And remember if all else fails at least get great ragdoll effects. Awesome physics makes any game so fun in my opinion haha but what do I know. Ive never built a game. I applaud you guys for that. I recently installed unreal to attempt to fiddle around and it's going to take quite a bit of studying But my mind has the creativity. Just transferring that into a game engine is a completely separate skill. Cheers man.

There is great potential for an old republic game where you could go either light or dark similar to jedi outcase with both light and dark powers... but with updated combat with parries, dodge, counters, etc., like Jedi Fallen Order. Or I suppose you could go into the future post EP9, as well. Maybe be the kid with the broom... lol.
