A clever & well thought out design. I especially like the way the angled pieces are flipped over to end up on the bottom, leaving the top section where the window is placed to be level👍.

I am having some renovations done and my old Anderson sliding doors and one window needed replacement, had the contractor save the glass to repurpose. Hoping to use window glass to make cold frame. Deck needs replacement also and going to repurpose that wood to make more raised beds and cold frame. Only using treated as I have it and it is copper not arsenic treated. Best video on building cold frame.

Nice one, man - I've just uploaded a video on a cold frame I made over Christmas from a couple of double glazed windows. It's such a shame to see windows like this get thrown away when they can be re-used / up-scaled into something very useful.

I live in South Africa it doesn't snow here Im sure one of these could get my crops through the winter because it gets cold but its usually super sunny still since there is no rain. I'm actually more concerned about the hail we get huge hail about once or twice a year.

I’m sure it would help. If you can find something for the lid to withstand the hail, like acrylic or polycarbonate, that could work.

What kind of plants can typically survive and thrive in a winter growhouse ? What minimum temperature can be allowed ?

That depends on where you live, but cold hardy crops (lettuce, kale) always do well for us over the winter.

Why didn't you simply mount the window to what was the top during the build, rather than flipping it over like you did?

The “top” does not have a level surface to mount the window, but the “bottom” does. This is because it’s assembled on a flat surface where all 4 sides can be plumb and flush with each other. I’m pretty sure I showed that in the video.
