these cars are way cooler than what we currently have for F1, the last of a breed, 3.5 litre normally aspirated Renault V10 and 18 inch rear tires, a real pavement ripper!

At the end of the day, it seems that with more safety, of course, this kind of cars are perfectly possible. Big engine, big tires, smooth aerodynamics. Even that kind of electronics are not that complicated nor expensive nowadays. I think some things were artificially complicated by rules.

The 14B was bloated and relatively overweight because it was never designed to be active but became so in '92. The 15C was drawn as an active car from the outset and was considerably faster.

It was desing for this suspensión, actually, the 89/90 Williams was also desing for this type of suspensión, but they later chose not to use it

Williams could have won the 1991 championship if not for the unreliable transmission in the early part of the season. The FW14 was a much better car than McLaren's MP4/6, but McLaren had the reliability and took crucial points early on that culminated in the championship.

It definitely had the best winning percentage of all time, but McLaren and Honda were really the only team in 1988 to develop their car. All the other teams did very little in 1988 as the rules were to undergo a major change in 1989.

The Williams was the biggest technical leap by some distance. It was light years ahead and rivals were shocked and scrambled around to catch up. They found the best way- just ban it, it was too good. If the FIA hadn't *purposely* changed the rules because of this car and it's 1993 successor there is no way Benetton would have produced a challenger in 1994. And by produced I mean still cheat hard to win. Williams would have dominated completely until Newey left.

Let's never forget that Senna won with a far superior car every single time he also won the WDC. The Fw14B was more advanced, but McLaren copied easy most of it's technology.

But, this car was always on the same 5km of track over an over again, not on a route or a street ..and if the Sistem get lost the entire suspensión is a disaster...

Nigel talking to us like he's on the golf course. god damn, imagine if they had given senna the drive like they should have in 92, at least in 93. Guaranteed he wouldn't be showing 'top secret' parts of the technology. nahh... hed be showing you pole after pole after pole. At least then youd have known a guy whos just as committed as this car was special.

you think Mansell was less commited than Senna??? Look at their head to head racing. Senna may have been more gifted but Mansell had balls. The FW14B qualified 2.7 secs A LAP faster than any other car in the first race but tellingly Mansell was 1.9 secs faster than Patrese.

Mansell is a good driver but no real world champion, active suspension did him the biggest career favour in 1992

Nonsense comment. Mansell could have walked away with 3 titles instead of just the one. He was unlucky not to be a multiple world champion. He developed later in his career into a better driver in his mid 30s. Admittedly the car was the class of the field in 1992 but it doesn't take anything away from Mansell. The fact he went straight to the USA in 1993 into a new car, totally unknown circuits against experienced quality opposition and beat them all is an indication of how good he was. The only man to hold both F1 and CART Indycar titles simultaneously. He nearly won the Indy 500 too at his first shot!

Well, Hamilton have the merc, Schumi had the Ferrari, damon/Jacks/Nigel/prost had the Williams...prost, Senna and Mika the mclaren, Alonso with Renault,Piquet the brabham A great champion need a great car...otherwise would be like Alonso with the mclaren/honda
