This was such a spot-on reaction by you, Red. You really "get it" regarding Tori's wonderful voice and the utmost respect and honor she seems to have for Karen. Tori presents herself as a humble, respectful, and genuinely nice person and I get the sense that she's a hard worker at her craft. She produces some of her songs as well as sounds like an angel when she sings. I couldn't help myself fantasizing about Tori going on American Idol or on The Voice and simply dazzling the judges because she's that good. Thank you for a great reaction. 🙂

@@AdamBazilleyup, Karen never sang it. She died before hearing it. Richard sang it with Dusty Springfield on lead in 1987. It was the missing Carpenters song.

That's some incredible vibrato she has, right? When she held one of the sustained notes, you actually said, "Wow." At the same time, I started sobbing. I love the Carpenters; Karen sang right on-pitch and had this vibrato she could sustain for, well, forever. I used to listen to her on a very high-end setup, and she'd make me cry every time. Tori has that same effect on me. And then you add in that she produced this herself at her home studio, all the voices hers. She's brilliant.

Hi Deanna, I trust you are feeling better than last week and I'm glad to see you back. I don't know if I mentioned that this particular song was written by Richard Carpenter for Karen, but Karen never had the chance to perform it as she passed away soon after. Tori is singing this at the 55th tribute concert, and it was quite emotional. The tribute takes place in LA in this church where Karen's funeral was held. I know there is much more going on behind the scenes with regard to Tori and where her career might go. Thank you so much Deanna for doing this and for your comments. There will be more to come.

Hi Dear Red! I’m so glad you are feeling better. I bet you listened to Tori for that little boost she can deliver! I still get a little goosebumpy still hearing this song. In 1987 Richard, for his solo album “Time” recorded this song with Dusty Springfield. A beautiful version for sure. To quote a well connected person about this performance; “she hit it out of the park.” I couldn’t agree more. She essentially made a Carpenters version all by herself. If you look at the notes. It’s the first time she gave herself “Producer” credit. I say it’s long overdue. The Medley should have been the first one. But OK, better late than never. I would have added Arranger credit, too. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Wonderful reaction! I felt your connection through the screen. Stay well and enjoy! Joe

An excellent heartfelt and realistic review that is worthy of my subscription, so I will be watching for any more reactions to Tori that you may wish to produce in order to catapult Tori in getting the acclamation that she deserves. Long gone are the days of recording contracts such as Richard and Karen were able to launch in their meteoric rise to stardom, and sales of LP albums and CDs are a thing of the past, along with listening to the radio to here the next wave of rising artists. So it would seem that reviewers such as you will be fulfilling this new and increasing role of highlighting the new and talented artists such as Tori, to a new and burgeoning audience, so thanks once again.

Thank you for graciously trying to take some of the onus off of Tori somehow having to be the "second-coming" of Karen. She definitely has a lovely and unique voice and in time will grow beyond making cover versions of Carpenters' songs and others, and fully find her own remarkable voice. She has so much support to shine her light!

Tori sings in perfect pitch like Karen did and they both make it sound effortless. It's just mind blowing how similar her voice is to Karen and she can sing in Karen's style.

Just a word here, Richard actually wrote this song for Karen, but she died before she could even see the score, so Tori did what Karen didn't get a chance to do, bring it to life.

About 3 years ago young Tori took her first crack at the song. Short but OMG. Now she made it as she envisioned it and I’m still getting the goosebumps on every replay. It was RC with Cynthia Weil (and 2 more) who wrote the song.
