Hi Red! I’m Ron’s friend Joe. I just watched your reaction to The Medley. Some background, Burt Bacharach asked Richard Carpenter, after he saw what RC had done with his Close To You Song, to take some of his and Hal David’s compositions and make a Medley. This is what he came up with. He jazzed it up faster than a typical Bacharach/David song. I love this! There’s a live performance they did for The Ed Sullivan Show in 1970. It is on the “Carpenters” album from 1971. (AKA The Tan Album) A guy named Eduard from Norway has taken the previous We’ve Only just Begun song and mashed it up with the Carpenters original. He recently did the same with The Medley. Here’s a link to that. He said he did have to make a quick edit to keep them in perfect sync but for the most part Tori was spot on. She did this last October. Just after I was introduced to her by the miracle that is Algorithms. If I had my eyes closed I think I'd definitely have thought that was Karen Carpenter singing and I haven't heard them since I don't know when. All those harmonies made me think of the Beach Boys. When she sung Walk On By that made me think have you ever the heard The Stranglers version of that, it's great.

Just so you know, Bert Bacharach and Hal David were song writers who wrote these songs. They were not part of the Carpenters. Tori Holub does cover Olivia Newton-John's song Magic on her channel.

Deanna, Tori actually has four covers of Olivia Newton-John on her channel! Thanks for getting this out so quickly. This is just an incredibly difficult song to perform as the number of syllables and the pace make it extremely challenging to enunciate and carry the tune at the same time. Keep in mind that all of the harmonies are Toris voice recorded in advance and then layered for the production. Your appreciation of what she does really shows! Thank you so much.
