It's the Power Axe mode. Now when your axe is powered up (either by savage axe after perfect guard or by doing focus strike/mount finisher) you won't consume any phial while doing regular Elemental Discharge. You'll consume half phial for AED and AED follow-up.
@Nexus_Hunting2 ай бұрын
Oh so when not doing those you will consume phials like normal I'm guessing
@Rusty_Spy2 ай бұрын
That's crazy. Even more crazy and I didn't even notice until watching this video was that ALL axe attacks now use phials instead of just ED.

So apparently, from my understanding this new phial mechanic is tied to Savage axe. When savage axe is active, your regular elemental discharge attacks (circle during axe mode for playstation users) Will not consume any phial. However Aed which normally consumes a single phial, will only consume half. The Aed followup attack, which we saw in the weapon overview, will also consume only half a phial. SAED will still consume the entirety of the phials stored. This new mechanic also occurs when you over charge the phials like you mentioed. Works exactly the same as Savage axe. What we still don't know is if those two stacks. What i mean is, having savage mode active, and your full magazine of phials over charged, we still don't know if having both will negate the consumption of phials even for Aed, or the Aed followup. I personally would assume that having both will actually stack, meaning we have access to full phials when we actually get to SAED during the combo. (For anyone that isn't aware, to get to SAED in wilds you gotta first do at least an Aed, unless you do a perfect guard/perfect guard point, in which you can transition to SAED) PS: It's also worth noting we don't know if over charged phials also do more damage during SAED, or if both new mechanics have another effect. I believe savage axe also does an additional raw damage when using axe attacks but i could be wrong

Team Darkside made a video covering the CB, and they included a clip from Arekkz Gaming's footage that had the CB phials at double-charge along with savage axe active; AEDs and the new followup no longer consume phials when these are stacked on top of eachother

@HollowBagel2 ай бұрын
@@Nexus_Hunting That's not true. You can enter it in a few different ways, but you most often do it by using focus mode. You can also use savage axe mode when you do a perfect guard or when you hit a wound during a mounted attack. And apparently when you're in savage axe mode, you now need to spam the attack button when it's going through a monster to get the extra hits, instead of like in World where it does extra hits by itself.

Just something i've noticed from the gameplay demos. Not sure if its worth talking about but just thought I'd share it
@jutaes32062 ай бұрын
The sparkly/crown phial supposedly increases the duration of shield charge by 15 extra seconds(30 to 45) per phial and I believe someone said that it increases damage of the discharges by around 66%.
@Nexus_Hunting2 ай бұрын
What I have also seen is that when someone used an AED it didnt deplete the phials. I'm just wondering if there has been a rework around when the phial depletes though. Because it most of the gameplay videos i've seen on CB, they only deplete on SAED or AED and only half the phial. Its so weird
@jutaes32062 ай бұрын
@@Nexus_Hunting I feel like a lot of these phial changes was unnecessary. I might be entirely wrong however having the new phial system where the phials now almost never get depleted, it creates an imbalance between SnS mode and Axe mode (whereas if you never use SAED you can stay in axe mode MUCH longer now without recharge) I am no designer, but worlds iteration of Savage Axe where you continuously lose phials had a really balanced system where you lose phials for the chainsaw ticks. But now there is no downside to Savage axe and only benefits.
@Nexus_Hunting2 ай бұрын
Yeah at first i thought things werent changing much besides some new combos and attacks but overhauling the phial system is putting a bit of a weird taste in my mouth.. Also the way savage axe in world was really nice too
@honeychonav40272 ай бұрын
So as far as I understand what's happening is two things. 1) Overfull Phials - Overcharge Mechanic. You can essentially store 15 Phials into your CB by default by first charging your Phials, then Overcharging your Phials which gives you a buff that only depletes your Phial Consumption by half. Including other buffs such as the 66% Phial Damage buff and extra shield charge time. 2) Savage Axe Mode when activated activates the power axe buff. Which also only consumes half a Phial. If you have both buffs up it creates a window where your Phial Consumption for AEDs are completely negated. It'll still consume all charges in SAED though.
