There’s no telling how far the cowboys would have went if Parcells did not leave. Parcells had what was the beginning of a possible dynasty building. Then Jerry had to be Jerry and push him into retirement. All so he could hire yes man wade phillips. I honestly think he did this once he figured Parcells had enough pieces in place. So that way if they won the Super Bowl, he could take the credit. He never did like Jimmy Johnson getting the credit for building a team and winning. So he let Bill do the building, and thought bumbling wade could just come in and win based on the team’s talent. Remember what Jerry said about Jimmy Johnson’s cowboys “there are 500 coaches that could win the Super Bowl with this team.” Boy was he wrong then. And wrong again with wade. Phillips (who btw was a great defensive coordinator) was a disaster as head coach. The cowboys had a 13 and 3 record despite Wade Phillips and co. Why doesn't anyone ever ask the question of why Jerry Jones hired Mike McCarthy to begin with. I was a lifelong Packers fan but really don't care anymore. Jerry Jones wants a Super Bowl... PERIOD. So he hires the man as head coach that squandered COUNTLESS possible Super Bowl appearances. Yes he won one SB with Rodgers but HOW MANY YEARS were the Packers a SB caliber team and they blew it in the playoffs... in my opinion blowing it in the playoffs (or not even showing up for certain playoff games) is the Packers true legacy and the number of times they blew it in the playoffs with Favre and Rodgers is mind boggling and now LaFluer has continued on in that tradition. But McCarthy was by far the biggest offender and blew the most playoff/SB opportunities year in and year out like clockwork... so why is he the best candidate to hire to get the Cowboys to the big game? Has anybody anywhere ever even asked this question or examined Mike McCarthy's post season record with an almost annual SB caliber team? I guess not.

Idk. 1970 was a year when the Cowboys started 5-4 and had a 54-13 loss to Minnesota and a humiliating 38-0 loss to St Louis on a Monday night. That team went to the superbowl. This teams problems are psychological. This is the same team that went into Pittsburgh and won a week earlier with the defense allowing less than 250 yards total offense. Detroit is good, really good. Dallas has had a pretty tough schedule out of the gate. They’re one game back in the division with two games each vs the Commanders and Eagles ahead of them. They are playing far below their capabilities while missing 3 defensive starters including the all world Micah Parsons. The sky hasn’t fallen yet but there is definitely reason for concern but also lots of things that are fixable in the coming weeks. Why Jerry didn’t hire Belichick or sign Derrick Henry this offseason is beyond me. A healthy Dallas team is talented and their ceiling I believe is high but they’re underachieving badly.

This is a throwaway season for the Cowboys. There's no coach who can come up with a scheme that would help this roster this season. They're probably just going to let McCarthy finish his contract and then next year hire another coach that will do what Jerry tells him to and hope they have a really good draft. Mike McCarthy - He's been more a facilitator for their weapons than scheming up anything. He's only here because he's a yes man and Jerry Jones likes that. 3. Dak Prescott - I am sorry, but holding out for 60 million a year shows you aren't serious about winning. Dak knows he'll never win a Superbowl and I don't think he cares if he does or not. He'll be retiring wealthy and can pretend to care about the Cowboys the rest of his career, but his selfishness and contract will prevent Dallas from ever competing for a Superbowl. At least we know Dak cares more about money than winning, and he's shown everyone his true colors. He's a loser with a loser's mentality, but he doesn't care because he's filthy rich now. He's got what he wanted which is money, not legacy, not rings, not NFL success and he's totally fine with sucking now that he has his money. This team is a reality TV show concerned more with drama and headlines than winning championships. Until that changes I need to find a new team to root for.
