I believe she played once in my hometown here in Oregon. She had a broken toe, but still got on stage and played and danced. A very coordinated, talented woman.

The beginning of her solo fiddle rocks it! Love how she blends the piano parts in there.

I downloaded RealPlayer or got an updated version of it. Now I'm able to download videos. I'm not sure if it will work for everyone but that's what I did.

First tune is a strathspey called “Mary Scott”, followed by the infamous “Tullochgorum” strathspey with its infinite variations.
@javivr16 жыл бұрын
Yes, that´s the Strathspey "Tullochgorum" with the six variations arranged by Scott Skinner.

Would anyone else love to see Natalie MacMaster vs Mairead Nesbitt in a fiddle duel? I think it would be awesome!
@jamesbockenstette43325 жыл бұрын
You want to know “Who is the best?” Foolish. They both are.
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын
They’re from different traditions and styles. But really, I’ve never seen or heard Máiread play as “funky” or as “improvisationally” as Natalie is known to do. Not saying that’s better, cause it is not better, necessarily… but we’ve only really seen Máiread run and leap around the stage while playing (very well I might add) Irish tunes, as well as some slower classical compositions in _Lord of the Dance_ too. Natalie plays a lot more funky strathspeys and reels, and tunes with passages of staccato bowing; rather percussive kind of style, rooted in Nova Scotia. But Natalie also can make the fiddle sing with great depth and richness on the heartfelt, slower tunes, as well… don’t get it twisted!
