There is devices that can easily check the C02 level and other gasses in a room. We have a couple of them at my construction job, and I am sure if a public building has a gas system it would be smart for them to have those equipment in the building since gas leaks are extremely deadly.

A hospital have many sensors. If a gas leak is suspected or happens, the hospital is thoroughly checked or evacuated. However, as a precaution, a crew is always on call or maintains gas pipes 24/7. My brother is an inspector, and he’s dispatched to hospitals every week.

Mass hysteria aside, I thought it kinda normal if someone was nauseated after seeing someone else puked or smell the puke... My friends all act this way, 90% of the time. They don't always feel sick, they're just too grossed out by the puking...

Ok, gross story. My older siblings (3 sisters 1 brother) all got sick around the same time and one morning, brother started throwing up but the walls were so thin that everyone in the house could hear him. He was throwing up in the toilet, sister 1 ran in and threw up in the tub, sister 2 took the kitchen sink and sister 3 just ran to the back yard. Mom was in a frenzy to help them while my dad (also sick/type 2 diabetic) was laughing because he was used to early morning vomit parties alone. Still a fun dinner table story from my parents.

Other people throwing up causes me to gag and of the gag is strong enough it can force up a bit of stomach acid, I usually try to swallow it and drink something fizzy to get rid of the sting but I'm sure at some point I probably have thrown up a bit because of hearing or seeing someone else throw up

I've been in a psych ward and saw this happen first hand. I was the cause, I had severe food poisoning and had to go the er floor fluids and emesis treatment. So as I was gone everyone was locked down in thier rooms and got better with rest and time. When I got back everyone was fine and I was stuck in bed for a day resting. Got visited by everyone though. One good thing that came from treatment!

Mass Hysteria is a near perfect reflection on the consequences of our own social circles. Yeah, laughing and talking is healthy for a community to govern and migrate new ideas, but what exactly happens when those ideas aren't properly thought out and sends the wrong commands your body is trying to expel like waste. Being balanced isn't a suggestion, it's a mandatory life-or-die situation.

Lol, as soon as the boy said he smelled rotten eggs too I knew it was mass hysteria. I’ve seen it with younger kids though, like grades K-5. They’re still soaking up their surroundings and their imaginations help amplify this. If one kid had a stomach ache, every kid suddenly had a stomach ache. Actually, I do remember a similar situation like this when I was in the 6th grade. One girl got a poison ivy rash and the entire class started to itch and claim having brushed up against the ivy, even though we didn’t have the same recess periods.

there is a psychological reason behind it, in the case of MPI your brain creates stimulus that causes physiological signs such as the guts thing, basically your brain manipulates your body in believing it is sick so you are given a placebo or fake med like these candies to manipulate your brain into thinking you have been given actual meds to fix whatever disease you had. hope this made any sense lol

Girls have to find friends to do with. They cannot be alone. Just like everyone, they're not alone as always. People who thinks about she's the only person is wrong. They can't find their friends by themselves. Thats why they're always thinking about they're alone. You have to find some friends to talk. Even though you feel like you're alone or not talking to your friends, you have to start finding someone to talk. Dont just stand there and did nothing. Always thinking about you're not alone. You have your own best friend, its your decision to make friends with others. When I was 7 years old, i didnt know how to make friends with others. And now, i know how to make friends with others. Did two different medical dramas both do a mass hysteria story? I remember this better from Chicago med where the girls all had twitches and they thought there was a gas leak and they had to practice for finals for cheerleading or something. I am sad about what happened to New Amsterdam. I think they ruined the show by making the relationship and then quitting and going off to England and then at the last moment on top of everything else she doesn't Even want to marry him. Maybe there will be an explanation. Or maybe it's just oh well who cares. Let's just uproot people's lives and ruin their television shows for no reason at all!

Just about every medical drama will do mass hysteria, just like every medical drama will do a domino surgery. Interesting medical conditions make for good episodes after all. It's also worth noting that both Chicago Med's hysteria episode and this New Amsterdam one aired in October of 2019 (Chicago med on the 2nd and New Amsterdam on the 8th) so the shows did not copy each other.

psychosomatic illness. basically, you know how the placebo effect is when you feel better because you THINK that you should be feeling better, even if the cure isn't real? well, the opposite can also happen: you feel sick because you THINK you should be feeling sick. the first girl, had started feeling bad, probably cause of general stress, but the rest of the kids "contracted" the symptoms cause they THOUGHT they should get sick too. so when doctors gave them "drugs" that they believed would cure them they got better

Its a placebo effect like he said to treat a physiological illness you need a physiological cure meaning treating the illness if it we're real, the symptoms were real because when one person got sick everyone else got sick like if you saw somebody puking you feel like you wanna puke too. When medical students study for long periods at a time they begin to feel like they have the symptoms they have in the books that they read the only way to cure mass hysteria is to isolate them and a "fake" cure

It's a psych ward. Parents aren't and shouldn't be there every day for the months it could take for treatment especially considering the varying circumstances of each child.

@TimberlakeTigerGirl
@TimberlakeTigerGirl Жыл бұрын
I'm going to take a guess and say her olfactory senses (sense of smell) was sending false signals to the brain. Basically tricking the brain, thus Emily, into thinking she was smelling gas.
