I have built many a variety of kits through the decades. I do not recall ever reading a disclaimer that the actual product may look different than what's shown on the box. I actually appreciate the honesty despite how small it is written.

yea, its a "get out of jail" card really - so when someone complains they can say "well, we did tell you that you might not get what was advertised" - which I get, but still think it is annoying when you buy a kit and expect to be able to build what is shown on the box and not a completely different paint scheme

Well done Matt, keeping it simple, not every model has to be rivet perfect and take an eternity to finish. I noticed it has no tail fin decals, but you did a great job on such a small kit

yeah, i'm not sure if academy didn't bother including them or if they were absent on the real aircraft

Nice build Matt, having just been up close to the Buccaneer "Guinness Girl" (a scheme that airfix has just released in the 1/48 version) @ Hendon, you've got the balance of paint colour to weathering about right.

Looks like a nice and fun buuld :) I would've kept the sidewinders off I guess because the massive size would annoy me but other than that I'd love to build this.

I finished an Academy 1/144 Luftwaffe F4F Phantom a while ago. It was great kit and had a much better scale regarding its rockets. It also had some minor interior aswell! I also bought a Revell Tornado ECR in this small scale and looking forward to it! It has some really difficult looking tiger patterned front stickers wich looks intimitading tho.

If you Google theGuardian Reader Jaguar you'll get some great pics of various bits of nose art on these kites who flew in Op. GRANBY, including Viz's very own Fat Slags.

I’ve just made two - one British, one French. It’s a smart little kit and goes together well (although a bit of filling is needed). One word of warning: the fins on the big sidewinders are sharp as thorns! I punctured my finger twice cleaning them up.

I can’t claim any level of in-depth knowledge, but is the nose on the model in the thumb nail correct? I thought that the RAF version had a squared-off nose rather than a pointy one?
@ModelMinutes

The RAF single seat Jaguars had a system called LRMTSS, it was a laser ranging device. The nose was a chisel shape with windows. The two seaters didn't have, or the French Jaguars

You should build the hobby boss 1/18 scale kits. They are very unique and very fun to build. I've done the Focke Wulf FW190 and the Messerschmitt ME262. They are a fantastic addition to my collection hanging from my ceiling and makes my other kits look tiny! Keep up the good work 👍
@ModelMinutes

thanks for the suggestion but I think 1/18 scale kits are a bit too large for my available workspace at the moment

What's wrong with Humberol liquid poly say compared with Tamiya?
@ModelMinutes
@ModelMinutes 10 ай бұрын
Tamiya extra thin is my preferred product, the humbrol one is a bit aggressive and leaves a glossy residue, the brush applicator being a bit rubbish too
@johnnoble01
@johnnoble01 10 ай бұрын
@@ModelMinutes i agree the brush is rubbish but i just use a paint brush. Been using Humberol liquid poly for over 50 years now and also use Tamiya green and white and AMS plastic weld. Always good to have a couple of different types to hand.

@TheNorwegian

Re the Gulf War loadout, according to an old book I have they'd have two Sidewinders, one on overwing rails on each wing. The underwing points were for bombs or other air-to-ground ordnance, or fuel tanks. Could a Jaguar even carry more than two Sidewinders? I've never seen photos of any with more than two AIM-9s (or Magics). It'd be a pretty lousy air-to-air fighter anyway....

Hi Matt. Sadly it looks like a lot of these 1/144 aircraft kits are pretty awful. I would have expected better from Academy. Those weapons are a joke lol. Just a quick note about Microset and sol. If you read the instructions on the bottle, you don't need to use Microsol if your decals are on a flat surface such as the wings and flat fuselage sides. Microsol is only needed if you need the decal to conform to a sunken shape. EG the dials on an instrument panel.
@ModelMinutes
@ModelMinutes 10 ай бұрын
they might be awful kits but for something cheap to build they fit that bill quite nicely. Whilst i might not need to use microsol if it is a flat surface, it can't hurt right?
@Andy.Gledhill.Models.
@Andy.Gledhill.Models. 10 ай бұрын
@@ModelMinutes Aye, but you are just wasting that Microsol. My bottle of it is 3/4 full, but my Microset bottle is nearly empty.
