Hi Vatchala Saminathan, it's not really a must ingredients, you can opt not to put but may need to add more fish sauce. But the taste may run just a little bit. Thanks for the comment.

Refreshing! First time I'm hearing of paste sugar. Is it easily available in Malaysia?

Hi Bonham Carter, I have not seen anywhere selling this in Malaysia. I have got my stock from Thailand. Another option is the palm sugar/gula Melaka would be good for this recipe as well. Enjoy!

I made this but added carrot and red onion, my wife hates fish sauce so I used magic mountain in hers and fish sauce in mine. Hers actually tasted better 😁. But what a wonderful recipe, thank you so much ♥️
