They’re like the kingsguard, they serve their Khal and swear their life to them, living only long enough after their death to avenge them. That’s why that guy said, “only while the blood of my blood lives,” because his blood brother Khal Drogo was about to die, so he was facing his own death in which he would go down killing on the way.

I think it might also have to do with what she said to Joffery about the enemy being, anyone who is not "us." If you keep it in the family, then your loyalty is bound by blood and I'm sure there's a sense of supremacy that comes with that too. I think the history in Westeros and real life prove that family doesn't always equal loyalty. But anyway, I love your reactions & can't wait for S2. 11:15 won’t spoil anything here so don’t worry, just gonna mention some stuff from the past/stuff not in the show. I’d say off the bat, Joffrey’s worse than Aerys. Both became king quite young, but Aerys actually wasn’t that bad for a good portion of his reign. At the beginning he apparently showed a lot of promise and was all around a decent dude who had a lot of big ideas to improve the realm and wanted to be remembered as a great king, but just never had the work ethic to come through on anything. Over time he lost his shit tho, him getting taken prisoner by his own vassal was basically the final straw that broke him into full insanity. In fairness to the dude as well, a lot of shit he was paranoid about was actually true. His lords and Rhaegar were most likely trying to kill or at the least overthrow him. But the gist of Aerys is that his later reign was he was ruled by fear. He burned Brandon and Rickard Stark alive then demanded Robert and Ned’s heads because he was afraid of retaliation. He would barely eat because he feared poison, he stopped cutting his hair and trimming his nails because he wouldn’t allow blades in his presence besides the kings guard.
