There's a scene (only happens in the books) where someone is threatening to storm the castle with a big ass army and execute everyone inside it. Queen Elizabeth 2 just died. Queen Elizabeth 1 was the 'Virgin Queen', who reigned over England's 'golden age'. Her father was King Henry the 8th, who had six wives, beheaded two of them (including Elizabeth 1's mother), and the original breastplate stretcher may have been invented for him. Queen Elizabeth 2's grandson Prince Harry (Henry), is 5th in line to the throne. His daughter Lilibet (variation of the name Elizabeth), is 7th in line to the throne. They live in California. Many English 'highborns' and royalty gave their illegitimate children last names that began with 'Fitz'. This is just a few sentences. The current monarchies have histories and connections that rival the stories in Game of Thrones. Some of Game of Thrones stories are based on the English monarchical history. Wikipedia is one entrance to THAT rabbit-hole.

Yes, Aerys (the Mad King) was married to his sister. Rhaegar, Viserys and Daenerys are also cousin-siblings. But Rhaegar was married to the Princess of Dorne (Elia Martell), mostly because his only sister (Dany) wasn't born until after he died.
@lydieneajebe92518 ай бұрын

Aerys and Rhaegar were killed in 283 AC, and Dany was born in 284 AC. Queen Rhaella died in childbirth. Robert asked Stannis to build a new fleet of ships after he was crowned, so that took a little while, and Stannis attacked Dragonstone with that fleet. Dany was just an infant, and the few remaining Targaryen loyalists sent a wet nurse with her and Viserys when they were smuggled off the island.
@lydieneajebe92518 ай бұрын
@@JC-gn7lq yes I was mistaken, both of you are right. I had no idea that her mother was still pregnant when they fled kings landing. The show made it seem like Danny was a young child when they left. So Danny was really fighting for a world that she had never known or has any memories from..wow.

Roberts Rebellion and Aegon’s Conquest would be two dope prequel shows. Well the sap is actually blood, because the First Men used to sacrifice people to the Weirwoods, and the Weirwoods would soak up the blood through their roots, which is why Ned cleans the blood from his sword near the Weirwoods. Also I would suggest possibly picking up a copy of The World of Ice and Fire to fully understood the lore, since the book covers the Dawn Age (First Men, Children of the Forest, etc.) up to Robert's Rebellion, and isn't really that long, only being around 300 pages. Also, the Tyrells are the ones that weren't used to fighting in the winter, not the Dornish. Loras and Margaery are Tyrells, and the Tyrells control the Reach. The Baratheons control Storm's End, so Robert, Stannis, and Renly are all from the Stormlands.

highly recommend the books- they're pretty easy to read (no dense prose) with a lot more subtle depth and emotional power. The TV series never truly captures all of it, and especially later on in the show lol Edit: also the heroes stories have more detail not mentioned: Bran the Builder stuff gets... weird in some theories. Garth Greenhand may have been an actual magic tree-man. Funniest thing about him is that almost all the Reach houses claim descent from him 😂😂 so the Tyrells ain't even special. The Ironborn tales show their ancestors to be psycho monster hunters with deep sea gods and a strange see-saw between despotism and pirate-democracy, etc. Oh yeah also Robert's waffling about dragon blood is crazy and kinda whack- legally he only has a claim to the throne not just because of long ago Orys Baratheon; his OWN GRANDMA was a Targ. He was by law the closest heir if you don't count the Targ royal family

"Is this why people read books?" 😂 Some books, at least. These books -- the series the Game of Thrones is based on, is called A Song of Ice and Fire, by GRRM. They're incredibly involved, and immensely engaging. The Harry Potter books are great, and alot easier to get into and get through. Both series are real page turners, and have even more meat -- more to grab onto, and immerse yourself in, than the show/movies.
