Another great lesson. Getting people to listen and tune in to things they hear, even if they don't understand them at first, is a really good way to help them connect with the new language. Humor is one of the hardest things to get in a new language, so getting a little and understanding it is very encouraging. I'd love to know more about differences between northern and southern humor!

Can you translate "kiss my ass"? Both either used jokingly and serious insult? Americans love using this phrase. (Both jokingly & always as a serious insult.)

It seems like we don't have an equivalent of that phrase -- we will have to use different expressions in different situations.

Yes, we have. It is "bú đít tao nè/bú đít tao đi". But it is not used usually nowadays because of its bad meaning. I used it with my friends when I was a boy in the countryside.
