It has to grow on me, but I generally like it so far. However, I didn't dislike any of the post-Power Metal albums, on the contrary. What's really interesting: you can definitely hear all the evolutionary steps they made in the past in this album. Every time I listen to this album I discover something new: there are heavy guitar sections on Shah Mat reminiscent of Reckoning Night and Unia, then they combine the pacing of Silence with the guitar work of Running Lights (Pariah's Child) on the track First In Line. Definitely worth many more rotations

It's a fantastic album. I will defend Sonata everyday of the week. Seen countless times, including acoustic in Germany. If people were peed off with the last couple of albums, they need to understand that Tony was going through a difficult period in his life, in some ways fed up with world etc felt he needed to express his views. They listened to fans and brought back power metal sounds ,keyboards are amazing. 10 out of 10 for me no problem. New Rhapsody of Fire this year one happy bunny. Don't give a monkeys about people who say power metal sounds the same etc.But 🖕them at least can't say takes them back to the 80s 😂😂😂😂

The new Rhapsody single sounds really good. Looking forward to that one for sure. As for this new Sonata, it’s a huge step in the right direction. The only thing that I would say is how much of it is from the heart and how much is it just trying to please their fans after letting them down for so long. This album is really good overall like I said in my review but I just wish the production wasn’t so polite. Anyway I’m the biggest power metal fanboy going so I’m happy they’re back on the right path. 👍
