That story about the prince of Jordan was really interesting, actually, because, if I'm not mistaken, the current KING of Jordon (Assumedly his father) actually did get a cameo on Star Trek: Voyager. Clearly a family thing!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ7YpWl8f5aXaq8 That is him and I bet she means the King, because the Crown Prince has no kids if I am not mistaken. But Kind Abdullah II is a huge Star Trek fan. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKaQZp2peNaYiJI That is also him. Always doing the background roles.
@BNJT
@BNJT 7 жыл бұрын
Adam Pick Wikipedia says King Abdullah II (who cameoed on Voyager) has one son, the 23 year old Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, who is heir apparent to the throne. So she could be talking about either of them.
@AdamMPick
@AdamMPick 7 жыл бұрын
Both, maybe, not either. The prince does not have kids, or a wife. So it is very probable she means the king, when saying the "prince". Albeit it is not clear which prince was there, as there are two, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah and Prince Hashem bin Abdullah. Do not trust wiki.

LOL! I know, right?? That's always been a pet peeve of mine. I was SO disgusted by the first TV vignette of such behavior that I saw back on the '80's TV show "Family Ties"--where the actor Michael J. Fox, as Reaganite Alex P. Keaton, met some generic Royal Brit or other, and acted like a TOTAL FLAILING IDIOT tripping all over himself! I was only around 12 years old at the time, but I was all,"HAVE SOME GODDAMN SELF-RESPECT, YOU TWIT! WE ARE AMERICANS! WE BOW TO NO ONE!" I actually yelled that at the TV and made my Mom and Dad LOL! AH, memories. :D :D :D

To everyone saying this show will suck / not work for whatever the reasons, just remember: TNG ( often the show that is said to be the best of the franchise ) went trough the exact ammount of criticism. Critics said it would flop, fans said they would completaly ignore and never watch the show, people even said that having a Klingon on the show ( Worf ) messed up everything TOS had built. Hell, even Patrick Stewart said he thought the show would last two seasons at the most. Point is: This show might surprise us all, and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Why keep the pessimism?

It's gorgeously natural! My sister is as blonde as Queen Elsa--but with hair that is just as AMAZINGLY CURLY as Ms. Martin-Green's!! I always envied it. :D Anyway, it all comes down to the shape of the hair shaft--elliptical vs. ovoid vs. round, and sometimes all kinds in between! I think it's interesting, and far less harmful to the person if they prefer to keep a natural hairstyle than to spend hundreds and risk chemical burns on a regular basis just for homogenized flat hair. Besides, sameness like that is BO-RING! :D :D :D

"So do you have emotion if you're raised by Vulcans?" Stephen, of _course_ she does, and Vulcans have emotions, too. Remember that. They just _suppress_ them, because _Vulcan_ emotions are _dangerous._ What puzzles me is that they had to add someone else to the _Spock_ family tree. _Star Trek V_ tried that. It didn't go well.

@GwendolynnBY

Spock didn't mention his parents until they showed up. Spock had a half brother he never mentioned till he showed up. Spock was betrothed to a woman he never mentioned until she showed up. Michael's existence as Sarek's adopted daughter that no one ever mentioned before is entirely in line with canon.

@moneyspider1
@moneyspider1 7 жыл бұрын
+teppolundgren: As to your first question, yes, people have been watching, but it's easier for people to watch humans becoming better human beings on TV shows and movies than actually becoming better humans in real life. Plus I've never believed Gene Roddenberry's vision of how humanity became a better species because for one thing he never went into specifics into how exactly ALL humans with so many differences in religion, opinions, beliefs, practices, biases, etc. actually started getting along and no longer had wars, etc. For me, that's not very realistic.
@SpaceCattttt
@SpaceCattttt 7 жыл бұрын
Indeed. He showed us the result without elaborating on the required process to achieve that result in the real world. That's why a lot of science fiction stories fall short under the microscope, because they offer the carrot and completely ignore the donkey. Good answer. :)

Yea, they are actually extremely warlike and angry in their natural state just like the Romulans. This is why they need that logic philosophy to keep them peaceful. In Lethe you can sense their martial nature. Earth would probably a slave colony if the Vulcans didn't adopt their new philosophy. We'd be like what the Remans are to the Romulans.

Honestly even if this show is objectively terrible, I will probably still love it. Trek is all about cheesy plotlines, disjointed arcs, and clumsy continuity, but that is part of its charm. The only thing I'll be disappointed in is if they don't properly demonstrate Star Trek's amazing ability to push the limits in regards to social justice issues - something I'm almost positive they'll achieve. People are giving Discovery a lot of crap before it has even been aired but even though I have definite questions about some stuff I'm not going to pre-judge it. I'll wait until I see it before passing judgement. For the present I'm just happy that there's a new series because I've missed having Trek on TV. We're getting it on Netflix in Europe. How did Americans get screwed out of seeing one of their own shows?

Mark Wright How come so many Americans have never heard of mixed economies? They've been working great in Western Europe for the last 70 years!

Mark Wright Great outcomes in public health, safety and employment, compared to the US. Strong economies and low unemployment compared to the world average. Top rankings in education, quality of life and opportunity. All of this was enabled by sensible economic policies which combine the best of capitalism and socialism. That's one of the reasons why so many people are streaming into W. Europe right now. I think that the current immigration policies will have to change, but apart from that it's the best region on earth for the average person right now.

America is a mixed economy (despite everyone thinking it's just straight capitalism). With that said... distribution of media in the US is handled differently than in Europe... and CBS wants a piece of that streaming subscription pie. Which will probably kill this show.... since this is all they have... and they're throwing a lot of money at it.
