Song for Berta (Live at the Cabin) - Damien Rice, Sandrayati Fay & JFDR

In honour of Berta Cáceres's 50th birthday, Jófríður Ákadóttir (JFDR), Sandrayati Fay and Damien Rice wrote a song inspired by Berta's life and work.
Berta was a Honduran environmental activist and indigenous leader who was murdered in 2016.
The injustice of her death feels like it became an emblem of strength, for community to gather with unwavering defence in support of what she believed in, with a call for humankind to wake up to the importance of the protection of the environment.
All proceeds go to copinh.org/en/, the organisation founded by Berta in 1993.

I really enjoyed this. Good to know that Damien is out there somewhere doing his thing. The best songs are the ones that make us feel something. Damien’s songs do just that. You made us laugh, you made us cry, and you opened up our eyes. Didn’t you? I don’t know if Damien actually reads comments on his video channel, but if you do Damien, I would love to hear a finished version of For Better Days, which I think would be appropriate for these times. I think at the moment we are all living for better days to come.
