I know some people may think listening to this type of music is depressing and I can understand why they would think that. HOWEVER for me this type of music helps me to relax and forget my worries when days are hard to get through alone. Plus it’s always great when reading the comments it nice to know other people appreciate this type of music. ***EDIT 2022*** 4 years and still this post going strong. I feel so thankful to see how many people feel and think the same as me when it comes to music like this. If people know other music like this please share with me so can expand my play list x

Songs like this make me homesick . . . for a place I've never been. It's the same feeling I get reading , , . . . and Tolkien's music is as beautiful as his world. It hurts to listen to, but we can't help it. It hurts because it reminds us that there's somewhere more beautiful than here, but we can't get there. 'A king he was, on carven throne, in many-pillared halls of stone.' Music like this is almost a taste of Heaven come to Earth.
@shandellization Жыл бұрын
understand this, I feel you from thousands of miles away, I may call you princess Elisha.. i feel the same and yet I have never met someone in person to share the same experience.
@ElishaSwift Жыл бұрын
@@shandellization I think maybe everyone feels this way. Maybe everyone secretly longs to be a knight, or a queen -- to find fairy-tale romance and adventure. But we think that our desire is unique. We think that it is odd. So we shut it down, and shut it out. We hide it, for the sake of 'fitting in.' Which is sad. It's sad that you have to give up chivalry and adventure to fit in nowadays. There was a time, once, when those things would have made you fit IN, but alas, those days are gone. They live on only in stories and and music. Also, I'm a boy *winks*. But you can call me a knight, if you like.

A king he was on carven throne In many-pillared halls of stone With golden roof and silver floor And runes of power upon the door The light of sun and star and moon In shining lamps of crystal hewn Undimmed by cloud or shade of night There shone for ever fair and bright The world is grey, the mountains old The forge's fire is ashen-cold No harp is wrung, no hammer falls The darkness dwells in Durin's halls The shadow lies upon his tomb In Moria, in Khazad-dûm But still the sunken stars appear In dark and windless Mirrormere There lies his crown in water deep Till Durin wakes again from sleep

I left my heart in middle earth. It resides in a dwarven crafted chest, hidden somewhere deep within the archives of the library in Erebor. Only the descendants of the royal line of Durin know how to find it. But alas, it would do no good to go looking for it. For only the great Thorin Oakenshield himself has the power to open it... But there was one other. Only ever one other... the one the King Under the Mountain called his Master Burglar. Them two alone can unlock the chest... they and they alone.

This is to this day one of my absolute favorites of Tolkien's poems. It's so incredibly sad and mournful (as Tolkien songs have a habit of being) but also strangely hopeful with that last line. Your voice adds layers of richness emotion to it that I didn't even know it needed. Even though you only covered the first and the last verse, i feel every line to the core. Somehow, it being sung by a clear female voice instead of a deep, male bass makes it even more haunting than it already is. My deepest gratitude and respect go out to you. Thank you for blessing us with this.

Nature untouched by the destructive hand of humans, and my family wonders why i prefer to sleep so much. when i told them about the landscapes I've seen they called me nuts cause they would never exist. They've seen the effects on me how i die more inside and become more withdrawn when i see deforestation. It just crushes my heart and makes me dislike humanity even more.

The World was young, the mountains green No stain yet on the moon was seen No words were laid on stream or stone When Durin woke and walked alone He named the nameless hills and dells He drank from yet untasted wells He stooped and looked in Mirrormere And saw a crown of stars appear As gems upon a silver thread Above the shadows of his head The world was fair, the mountains tall In Elder Days before the fall Of mighty kings of Nargothrond And Gondolin who now beyond The Western Seas have passed away The world was fair in Durin's Day A king he was on carven throne In many-pillared halls of stone With golden roof and silver floor And runes of power upon the door The light of Sun and Star and Moon In shining lamps of crystal hewn Undimmed by cloud or shade of night There shone forever fair and bright The hammer on the anvil smote There chisel clove and graver wrote There forged was blade and bound was hilt The delver mined, the mason built There Beryl, Pearl and Opal pale And metal wrought like fishes mail Buckler and Corslet, Axe and Sword And shining spears were laid in hoard Unwearied then were Durin's Folk Beneath the Mountains music woke The Harpers harped, The Minstrels sang And at the gates the Tumpets rang The world is grey, the mountains old The Forge's fire is ashen cold No harp is rung, no hammer falls The darkness dwells in Durin's halls The shadow lies upon his tomb In Moria in Khazad-Dum But still the sunken stars appear In dark and windless Mirrormere There lies his crown in water deep 'Till Durin wakes again from sleep

This song reminds me of how we’re literally destroying earth and everything in it. 🖤😢 We must open our hearts and expand our mind to really enjoy and see life in a beautiful and peaceful way.

This is my second favorite music style since folk metal is really similar to this folk style. This song has reached the soul.

I like it. It takes a sad dark lullaby and turns it to more like a nice folk song. Not gonna lie though I honestly kinda wanna cry when I hear the original cuz like it sounds like a sad people singing for their lost king

this song is awesome,I loved listening to these women sing and tell stories,I used to dress in suits go to opera,and these women would sing story's to hike people acted them out on broad way,it was extremely forfilling,or I'd go to Italy or siciliand Tokyo was a favorite or germany.id practice different language and watch plays while these people sing the story in there language....
