The original title of the album was “White Hot Forever”. She changed the title about mid-way through 2020, so smack in the middle of the pandemic. So I agree that “Chemtrails Over The Country Club” is meant to be a juxtaposition. Seeking normality and happiness in a chaotic and dangerous world. There are a lot of themes of appreciation, self discovery/self acceptance, and nostalgia throughout the album. Certainly the most happy she’s sounded.

Your commentary for every song is so great! Tulsa isn’t about an affair, just her previous cop boyfriend that’s from the Midwest (and she’s always mentioned religion to some extent in her music, so it seems just another extended metaphor about the addiction and devotion of love). Beginning with White Dress and ending with For Free is so underrated if you listen to their lyrics. In White Dress Lana is reminiscing and contemplating her past thinking maybe she was better off then, and in For Free (even tho it is a cover) the song is about seeing this man playing his music on the street and comparing herself to this artist and seeing herself in him. It's like the moment in For Free birthed White Dress

Lana is pretty much the only female artist I feel well and truly represented by. I'm pretty similar to her in my personality and my softer nature. I feel an intense bond to her and her music. I've been listening to her since 2015 (after her album Honeymoon had already come out) when I was only 14 yrs old. Now as a 20 yr old I can honestly say that her discography has been an immense comfort to me and has helped me through some very difficult times over the past 6 yrs. All that being said, this album just hits so different for me. It feels like a warm hug from Lana telling me it's gonna be ok. I ADORE all her albums but this one's on a whole different level for me. I remember listening to it for the first time on release night alone in the darkness of my room and I was so spellbound by it that at certain points I legit realized I had no clue when or where I was lol. It was like I'd been transported to a plain of existence where it was just me and Lana and the music. 🖤
