At first, I was going to scoff at this game's difficulty, but then I watched the entire video. Razor and Zenon, ho-lee shit, you guys either have catlike gaming reflexes, or you've died so much in this game that your memorization is really good. I am nowhere near man enough to play through this entire game. Imagine if we got this version of Sonic 1 back in the day; lots of children probably would have been in tears over this hack's difficulty. It would probably be considered by gamers today as being just barely easier than Battletoads. Wonderful playthrough.

It doesn't need to be optimized to still be a TAS as most of the videos are confirmed to already be. Where the hell are you dumb newbs coming from anyway? Watch any of the fan games that they can't TAS and you'll see what their real human reflexes are (which are much much more flawed than this performance)

Whoa! This is an amazing and challenging hack. Well done VEGALTE and company. I at first thought that there was no Act 3. That had me scratching my head for a while there. Then after the Final Zone, normally there would be a cutscene of Sonic in Green Hill Zone running from the right. Well he does but there's a twist to that and what an interesting twist it is. Instead of an automatic cutscene, YOU actually HAVE to get Sonic back from Scrap Brain Zone to Green Hill Zone by playing all the Zones in reverse order! This is where the other Zone's Act 3s come into play and instead of left to right, it's right to left! In other words, Sonic is actually going through South Island's Zones in reverse! It's freaking genius! Another thing, the Special Zones are the same as the original game BUT you can only play them one time for each Chaos Emerald and that's only in each Zone's Act 1. (Correct me if I' wrong...) That means only 6 total Giant Rings. So if you happen to fuck up once, you AIN'T getting all the emeralds for the "good" ending! Also the medley ending is customized! Sonic doesn't die during the Credits! The creator made the AI Sonic survive the customed areas of the levels. I didn't think that was possible! FINALLY! Someone puts effort even for the small things like that. This hack is just freaking amazing! Love went into this project. You can tell because they even worked on the small things like the medley ending for example. Most hacks I've seen so far played from Razor & Zenon's channel don't care and Sonic just dies or for the few, the ending would freeze or get a Game Over and such.

I actually beta tested most of the stuff you said, including the demo movement and ending. I even asked Vega to release both versions; one with changed music and one with the original music. That goes for "Master Edition 3" and "Master Edition 2" (excluding the extra modes). The reason why is because some people (or from looking at the comments, most people) disliked the changed music, even though it's supposed to sound 'out of tune' mostly for the levels that are very hard.

This hack looks to be a good blend of cheap-hard (i.e. memorization-intensive) and reasonably hard/"cool" hard (i.e. actually cool ideas for challenges that are fun to experience and overcome), which is the way to do it in my book. I don't think cheap-hard is necessarily excessively cruel or a lazy way of implementing difficulty, but it's got to be spread out and seasoned with gameplay that is lenient enough to be engaging-the player should constantly feel rewarded for putting up with and overcoming b.s. level design.

Hehe wow, there's more fireballs going on there than in the entire eighth season of Knightmare. I had wondered where all the third acts had gone, but as Sonic heads back to Green Hill Zone after beating Robotnik at the end of Scrap Brain Zone, it makes sense to show him at least travelling back. That last boss is just ridiculous. :)

I'm glad someone else used the original music version. :D Out of the entire Master Edition series, this one is my favourite, since the difficulty of challenging layouts is just right for experts. Although, I did use tool-assist on some parts whilst speedrunning, especially the true final boss.

Scrap Brain HAS NO RINGS.. Robotnik did plenty of home cleaning, to make sure Sonic got no rings to save him! very interesting hack, especially the concept of "Sonic Returning" through Zone 3 of every zone in reverse! a The last boss was rather annoying then fun. I wish hack maker could of used more variety in attacks, and modify the look of Egmobile, instead of using generic one with no addons.
