I grew up watching my grandma play video games. Some of my earliest memories are watching her play Sonic 1. As soon as I was old enough to hold the controller I was playing with her. She always beat Labyrinth Zone for me because I used to cry when Sonic drowned, and she taught me a route through Green Hill that got the maximum possible number of rings I still remember to this day. The music from this stage was her favourite. I still have her GBA SP, her DS Lite and all her old games in my house. I miss her every day.

When I was a kid, I HATED the hell out of Labyrinth Zone so much. I walked away from the game for a while cause that level sucked so bad. One day at 3 in the morning, I went to play sonic without even realizing what I was doing, I beat Labyrinth Zone. When I got to this zone, my eyes lit up and I was so happy. I was facing some tough times, things a kid shouldn't feel, something about Star Light Zone was just so liberating. The song makes me happy to this day.

Sonic 1 seems to take place over 1 day, its nice and sunny in green hill, getting a little dark in marble, the sun sets in spring yard, im guessing its night during labyrinth zone but you can’t see it since your underground, most likely midnight in star light zone, and the sun starts rising during scrap brain. Sonic must have been worn out due to staying up all night and running.
