It reminds me of 2012, when I discovered the Sonic universe, watched Sonic X and wondered why there wasn't a game based on that anime, especially the Shadow arc, since it had an incredible story. Imagine how happy I was to discover that the anime was actually based on an existing game, Sonic Adventure 2. And then, 10 years later, I was able to have that same feeling of happiness, when it was announced that the Sonic 3 movie would also be based on that incredible game.

I used to play so much with my friend and I was all or nothing in the race battles. That is, I played only Amy and Metal Sonic, so I was either constantly spamming abilities or nothing at all. He really hated when I picked Amy. lol Though I got really good with Metal Sonic and timing his shields to avoid getting hit. Always felt good whenever I blocked an attack with his shield.

A lot of times you see actors claiming to be long time fans of a franchise they've been hired for because they expect to be judged poorly otherwise, but then the lie backfires, and they get the rejection they were trying to avoid. This game was a MASSIVE deal for me back in 2002 (03?). I got a GameCube and this game for Christmas and played it for HOURS every single day. I unlocked everything there was to unlock. Got (bred?) every special Chao possible. Did everything there was to do. And the movie made me very happy. Save for the Chao Garden, I was very pleased with their love letter to the game itself.

@chriss.249 Sega was in really bad financial shape in 2001. The Dreamcast wasn't just the end of their consoles, it was going to be the end of the company in totality. The only reason they didn't go under was because one of the founders, on his deathbed, donated all his life savings to the company. There's an entire What Happened episode about the Dreamcast.
